<p class="bodytext">Then David passed away<n id="1" /> and was buried in the city of David.<n id="2" />

So Israel has been in rebellion against the Davidic dynasty to this very day.

Jeroboam then thought to himself:<n id="1" /> &#8220;Now the Davidic dynasty could regain the kingdom.<n id="2" />

Asa did what the <sc>Lordsc> approved<n id="1" /> like his ancestor<n id="2" /> David had done.

Now, O God of Israel, may the promise you made<n id="1" /> to your servant, my father David, be realized.<n id="2" />p>

Solomon did evil in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s sight;<n id="1" /> he did not remain loyal to<n id="2" /> the <sc>Lordsc>, like his father David had.

However, for your father David&#8217;s sake I will not do this while you are alive. I will tear it away from your son&#8217;s hand instead.

I will humiliate David&#8217;s descendants because of this,<n id="1" /> but not forever.&#8221;<n id="2" />

Then Solomon passed away<n id="1" /> and was buried in the city of his father David.<n id="2" /> His son Rehoboam replaced him as king.<n id="3" />p>

Abijah passed away<n id="1" /> and was buried<n id="2" /> in the city of David. His son Asa replaced him as king.p>

I tore the kingdom away from the Davidic dynasty and gave it to you. But you are not like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me wholeheartedly by doing only what I approve.<n id="1" />

But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and David&#8217;s elite warriors<n id="1" /> did not ally themselves<n id="2" /> with Adonijah.
