<p class="poetry">Every valley must be elevated,p> <p class="poetry">and every mountain and hill leveled.p> <p class="poetry">The rough terrain will become a level plain,p> <p class="poetry">the rugged landscape a wide valley.p>

<p class="poetry">Let the desert and its cities shout out,p> <p class="poetry">the towns where the nomads of Kedar live!p> <p class="poetry">Let the residents of Sela shout joyfully;p> <p class="poetry">let them shout loudly from the mountaintops.p>

<p class="poetry">I will make the trees on the mountains and hills wither up;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I will dry up all their vegetation.p> <p class="poetry">I will turn streams into islands,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">and dry up pools of water.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">On every high, elevated hill you prepare your bed;p> <p class="poetry">you go up there to offer sacrifices.p>

<p class="poetry">When you performed awesome deeds that took us by surprise,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">you came down, and the mountains trembled<n id="2" /> before you.p>

<p class="poetry">I will bring forth descendants from Jacob,p> <p class="poetry">and from Judah people to take possession of my mountains.p> <p class="poetry">My chosen ones will take possession of the land;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">my servants will live there.p>

They will stay away from all the hills that were cultivated, for fear of the thorns and briers.<n id="1" /> Cattle will graze there and sheep will trample on them.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Look, I and the sons whom the <sc>Lordsc> has given me<n id="1" /> are reminders and object lessons<n id="2" /> in Israel, sent from the <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies, who lives on Mount Zion.p>

<p class="poetry">They will no longer injure or destroyp> <p class="poetry">on my entire royal mountain.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">For there will be universal submission to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s sovereignty,p> <p class="poetry">just as the waters completely cover the sea.<n id="2" />p>

<n id="1" /><p class="poetry">There is a loud noise on the mountains &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">it sounds like a large army!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">There is great commotion among the kingdoms<n id="3" /> &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">nations are being assembled!p> <p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies is musteringp> <p class="poetry">forces for battle.p>
