The <sc>Lordsc> told Gad, David&#8217;s prophet,<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">When David got up the next morning, the <sc>Lordsc> had already spoken<n id="1" /> to Gad the prophet, David&#8217;s seer:

<p class="poetry">The prophets<n id="1" /> will be ashamed;p> <p class="poetry">the omen readers will be humiliated.p> <p class="poetry">All of them will cover their mouths,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">for they will receive no divine oracles.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

All these were the sons of Heman, the king&#8217;s prophet. God had promised him these sons in order to make him prestigious.<n id="1" /> God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.p>

<p class="bodytext">The events of Rehoboam&#8217;s reign, from start to finish, are recorded<n id="1" /> in the Annals of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer that include genealogical records.

King Hezekiah and the officials told the Levites to praise the <sc>Lordsc>, using the psalms<n id="1" /> of David and Asaph the prophet.<n id="2" /> So they joyfully offered praise and bowed down and worshiped.

<p class="poetry">For the <sc>Lordsc> has poured out on youp> <p class="poetry">a strong urge to sleep deeply.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">He has shut your eyes (the prophets),p> <p class="poetry">and covered your heads (the seers).p>

<p class="poetry">They<n id="1" /> say to the visionaries, &#8220;See no more visions!&#8221;p> <p class="poetry">and to the seers, &#8220;Don&#8217;t relate messages to us about what is right!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Tell us nice things,p> <p class="poetry">relate deceptive messages.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">You are tired out from listening to so much advice.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Let them take their stand &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">the ones who see omens in the sky,p> <p class="poetry">who gaze at the stars,p> <p class="poetry">who make monthly predictions &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">let them rescue you from the disaster that is about to overtake you!<n id="2" />p>

those prophets of Israel who would prophesy about Jerusalem<n id="1" /> and would see visions of peace for it, when there was no peace,&#8221; declares the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>.&#8217;p>

Her prophets coat their messages with whitewash.<n id="1" /> They see false visions and announce lying omens for them, saying, &#8216;This is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says,&#8217; when the <sc>Lordsc> has not spoken.

<p class="bodytext">Amaziah then said to Amos, &#8220;Leave, you visionary!<n id="1" /> Run away to the land of Judah! Earn your living<n id="2" /> and prophesy there!

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> solemnly warned Israel and Judah through all his prophets and all the seers, &#8220;Turn back from your evil ways; obey my commandments and rules that are recorded in the law. I ordered your ancestors to keep this law and sent my servants the prophets to remind you of its demands.&#8221;<n id="1" />

King David&#8217;s accomplishments, from start to finish, are recorded in the Annals of Samuel the prophet, the Annals of Nathan the prophet, and the Annals of Gad the prophet.<n id="1" />

the prophet<n id="1" /> Jehu son of Hanani confronted him;<n id="2" /> he said to King Jehoshaphat, &#8220;Is it right to help the wicked and be an ally of those who oppose the <sc>Lordsc>?<n id="3" /> Because you have done this the <sc>Lordsc> is angry with you!<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">King Hezekiah<n id="1" /> stationed the Levites in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple with cymbals and stringed instruments, just as David, Gad the king&#8217;s prophet,<n id="2" /> and Nathan the prophet had ordered. (The <sc>Lordsc> had actually given these orders through his prophets.)

<p class="bodytext">The rest of the events of Manasseh&#8217;s reign, including his prayer to his God and the words the prophets<n id="1" /> spoke to him in the name of the <sc>Lordsc> God of Israel, are recorded<n id="2" /> in the Annals of the Kings of Israel.

The musicians, the descendants of Asaph, manned their posts, as prescribed by David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king&#8217;s prophet.<n id="1" /> The guards at the various gates did not need to leave their posts, for their fellow Levites made preparations for them.

<p class="poetry">For you say,p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;We have made a treaty with death,p> <p class="poetry">with Sheol<n id="1" /> we have made an agreement.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">When the overwhelming judgment sweeps by<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">it will not reach us.p> <p class="poetry">For we have made a lie our refuge,p> <p class="poetry">we have hidden ourselves in a deceitful word.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>
