<p class="bodytext">The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.

Then Pharaoh also summoned wise men and sorcerers,<n id="1" /> and the magicians<n id="2" /> of Egypt by their secret arts<n id="3" /> did the same thing.

<p class="bodytext">The magicians did the same<n id="1" /> with their secret arts and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt too.<n id="2" />p>

The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads of grain. So I told all this<n id="1" /> to the diviner-priests, but no one could tell me its meaning.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

But the magicians of Egypt did the same<n id="1" /> by their secret arts, and so<n id="2" /> Pharaoh&#8217;s heart remained hard,<n id="3" /> and he refused to listen to Moses and Aaron<n id="4" /> &#8211; just as the <sc>Lordsc> had predicted.

When<n id="1" /> the magicians attempted<n id="2" /> to bring forth gnats by their secret arts, they could not. So there were gnats on people and on animals.

The magicians said<n id="1" /> to Pharaoh, &#8220;It is the finger<n id="2" /> of God!&#8221; But Pharaoh&#8217;s heart remained hard,<n id="3" /> and he did not listen to them, just as the <sc>Lordsc> had predicted.p>

In every matter of wisdom and<n id="1" /> insight the king asked them about, he found them to be ten times<n id="2" /> better than any of the magicians and astrologers that were in his entire empire.

The king issued an order<n id="1" /> to summon the magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and wise men<n id="2" /> in order to explain his dreams to him.<n id="3" /> So they came and awaited the king&#8217;s instructions.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="bodytext">In the morning he<n id="1" /> was troubled, so he called for<n id="2" /> all the diviner-priests<n id="3" /> of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams,<n id="4" /> but no one could interpret<n id="5" /> them for him.<n id="6" />
