<p class="poetry">He gave it to Jacob as a decree,p> <p class="poetry">to Israel as a lasting promise,<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">and how he made a vow to the <sc>Lordsc>,p> <p class="poetry">and swore an oath to the powerful ruler of Jacob.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">He proclaims his word to Jacob,p> <p class="poetry">his statutes and regulations to Israel.p>

<p class="poetry">Such purity characterizes the people who seek his favor,p> <p class="poetry">Jacob&#8217;s descendants, who pray to him.<n id="1" /> (Selah)p>

<p class="poetry">You are my<n id="1" /> king, O God!p> <p class="poetry">Decree<n id="2" /> Jacob&#8217;s<n id="3" /> deliverance!p>

<p class="poetry">As for me, I will continually tell what you have done;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I will sing praises to the God of Jacob!p>

<p class="poetry">At the sound of your battle cry,<n id="1" /> O God of Jacob,p> <p class="poetry">both rider<n id="2" /> and horse &#8220;fell asleep.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">You delivered<n id="1" /> your people by your strength<n id="2" /> &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">the children of Jacob and Joseph. (Selah)p>

<p class="poetry">He took him away from following the mother sheep,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">and made him the shepherd of Jacob, his people,p> <p class="poetry">and of Israel, his chosen nation.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">For they have devoured Jacobp> <p class="poetry">and destroyed his home.p>

<p class="poetry">For observing the festival is a requirement for Israel;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">it is an ordinance given by the God of Jacob.p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> loves the gates of Zionp> <p class="poetry">more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.p>

<p class="poetry">Then they say, &#8220;The <sc>Lordsc> does not see this;p> <p class="poetry">the God of Jacob does not take notice of it.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">Israel moved to<n id="1" /> Egypt;p> <p class="poetry">Jacob lived for a time<n id="2" /> in the land of Ham.p>

<t /><p class="poetry">When Israel left Egypt,p> <p class="poetry">when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind,<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Tremble, O earth, before the Lord &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">before the God of Jacob,p>

<p class="poetry">until I find a place for the <sc>Lordsc>,p> <p class="poetry">a fine dwelling place<n id="1" /> for the powerful ruler of Jacob.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Indeed,<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc> has chosen Jacob for himself,p> <p class="poetry">Israel to be his special possession.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">How blessed is the one whose helper is the God of Jacob,p> <p class="poetry">whose hope is in the <sc>Lordsc> his God,p>
