His power will be great, but it will not be by his strength alone. He will cause terrible destruction.<n id="1" /> He will be successful in what he undertakes.<n id="2" /> He will destroy powerful people and the people of the holy ones.<n id="3" />

The horn that was broken<n id="1" /> and in whose place there arose four others stands for four kingdoms that will arise from his nation, though they will not have his strength.

I alone was left to see this great vision. My strength drained from<n id="1" /> me, and my vigor disappeared;<n id="2" /> I was without energy.<n id="3" />

It came to the two-horned ram that I had seen standing beside the canal and rushed against it with raging strength.<n id="1" />

Then the king of the north will advance and will build siege mounds and capture a well-fortified city.<n id="1" /> The forces of the south will not prevail, not even his finest contingents.<n id="2" /> They will have no strength to prevail.

young men in whom there was no physical defect and who were handsome,<n id="1" /> well versed in all kinds of wisdom, well educated<n id="2" /> and having keen insight,<n id="3" /> and who were capable<n id="4" /> of entering the king&#8217;s royal service<n id="5" /> &#8211; and to teach them the literature and language<n id="6" /> of the Babylonians.<n id="7" />

Then<n id="1" /> one who appeared to be a human being<n id="2" /> was touching my lips. I opened my mouth and started to speak, saying to the one who was standing before me, &#8220;Sir,<n id="3" /> due to the vision, anxiety has gripped me and I have no strength.

How, sir, am I able to speak with you?<n id="1" /> My strength is gone,<n id="2" /> and I am breathless.&#8221;

After some years have passed, they<n id="1" /> will form an alliance. Then the daughter<n id="2" /> of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to make an agreement, but she will not retain her power,<n id="3" /> nor will he continue<n id="4" /> in his strength.<n id="5" /> She, together with the one who brought her, her child,<n id="6" /> and her benefactor will all be delivered over at that time.<n id="7" />p>

He will rouse his strength and enthusiasm<n id="1" /> against the king of the south<n id="2" /> with a large army. The king of the south will wage war with a large and very powerful army, but he will not be able to prevail because of the plans devised against him.
