<p class="bodytext">So Joab and his men<n id="1" /> marched out to do battle with the Arameans, and they fled before him.

When Uriah came to him, David asked about how Joab and the army were doing and how the campaign was going.<n id="1" />

He instructed the messenger as follows: &#8220;When you finish giving the battle report to the king,

<p class="bodytext">So Joab and his brother Abishai killed Abner, because he had killed their brother Asahel in Gibeon during the battle.p>

<p class="bodytext">When Joab saw that the battle would be fought on two fronts, he chose some of Israel&#8217;s best men and deployed them against the Arameans.<n id="1" />

In the letter he wrote: &#8220;Station Uriah in the thick of the battle and then withdraw from him so he will be cut down and killed.&#8221;p>

The battle there was spread out over the whole area, and the forest consumed more soldiers than the sword devoured that day.p>

That day the people stole away to go to the city the way people who are embarrassed steal away in fleeing from battle.

But Absalom, whom we anointed as our king,<n id="1" /> has died in battle. So now why do you hesitate to bring the king back?&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Another battle was fought between the Philistines and Israel. So David went down with his soldiers<n id="1" /> and fought the Philistines. David became exhausted.
