The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, &#8220;I will disguise myself and then enter<n id="1" /> into the battle; but you wear your royal robes.&#8221; So the king of Israel disguised himself and then entered into the battle.

Rehoboam and Jeroboam were continually at war with each other.

While the battle raged throughout the day, the king stood propped up in his chariot opposite the Syrians. He died in the evening; the blood from the wound ran down into the bottom of the chariot.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;You know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me &#8211; how he murdered two commanders of the Israelite armies, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether.<n id="1" /> During peacetime he struck them down like he would in battle;<n id="2" /> when he shed their blood as if in battle, he stained his own belt and the sandals on his feet.<n id="3" />

&#8220;You know that my father David was unable to build a temple to honor the <sc>Lordsc><n id="1" /> his God, for he was busy fighting battles on all fronts while the <sc>Lordsc> subdued his enemies.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;When you direct your people to march out and fight their enemies,<n id="1" /> and they direct their prayers to the <sc>Lordsc><n id="2" /> toward his chosen city and this temple I built for your honor,<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he summoned 180,000 skilled warriors from all of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin<n id="1" /> to attack Israel and restore the kingdom to Rehoboam son of Solomon.

The rest of the events of Abijah&#8217;s reign, including all his accomplishments, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Judah.<n id="1" /> Abijah and Jeroboam had been at war with each other.

<p class="bodytext">The armies were deployed opposite each other for seven days. On the seventh day the battle began, and the Israelites killed 100,000 Syrian foot soldiers in one day.

Then he said to Jehoshaphat, &#8220;Will you go with me to attack Ramoth Gilead?&#8221; Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, &#8220;I will support you; my army and horses are at your disposal.&#8221;<n id="1" />

So the king of Israel assembled about four hundred prophets and asked them, &#8220;Should I attack Ramoth Gilead or not?&#8221;<n id="1" /> They said, &#8220;Attack! The sovereign one<n id="2" /> will hand it over to the king.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">When he came before the king, the king asked him, &#8220;Micaiah, should we attack Ramoth Gilead or not?&#8221; He answered him, &#8220;Attack! You will succeed; the <sc>Lordsc> will hand it over to the king.&#8221;<n id="1" />
