Why<n id="1" /> have you brought us up from Egypt only to bring us to<n id="2" /> this dreadful place? It is no place for grain, or figs, or vines, or pomegranates; nor is there any water to drink!&#8221;p>

So he called the name of that place Taberah<n id="1" /> because there the fire of the <sc>Lordsc> burned among them.p>

So now, go back where you came from!<n id="1" /> I said that I would greatly honor you; but now the <sc>Lordsc> has stood in the way of your honor.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Balaam got up and departed and returned to his home,<n id="1" /> and Balak also went his way.p>

<p class="bodytext">So the name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah,<n id="1" /> because there they buried the people that craved different food.<n id="2" />

That place was called<n id="1" /> the Eshcol Valley,<n id="2" /> because of the cluster<n id="3" /> of grapes that the Israelites cut from there.

<p class="bodytext">And early<n id="1" /> in the morning they went up to the crest of the hill country,<n id="2" /> saying, &#8220;Here we are, and we will go up to the place that the <sc>Lordsc> commanded,<n id="3" /> for we have sinned.&#8221;<n id="4" />

And you may<n id="1" /> eat it in any place, you and your household, because it is your wages for your service in the tent of meeting.

The <sc>Lordsc> listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites,<n id="1" /> and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. So the name of the place was called<n id="2" /> Hormah.p>

<p class="bodytext">Then the angel of the <sc>Lordsc> went farther, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right or to the left.

<p class="bodytext">Balak said to Balaam, &#8220;Come, please; I will take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God<n id="1" /> to let you curse them for me from there.&#8221;<n id="2" />

Whenever the cloud was taken up<n id="1" /> from the tabernacle, then after that the Israelites would begin their journey; and in whatever place<n id="2" /> the cloud settled, there the Israelites would make camp.

They must be kept<n id="1" /> for the community of the Israelites for use in the water of purification<n id="2" /> &#8211; it is a purification for sin.<n id="3" />

Balak said to him, &#8220;Please come with me to another place from which you can observe them. You will see only a part of them, but you will not see all of them. Curse them for me from there.&#8221;p>

but we will maintain ourselves in armed readiness<n id="1" /> and go before the Israelites until whenever we have brought them to their place. Our descendants will be living in fortified towns as a protection against<n id="2" /> the inhabitants of the land.
