So if a prophet prophesied<n id="1" /> peace and prosperity, it was only known that the <sc>Lordsc> truly sent him when what he prophesied came true.&#8221;p>

Those prophets are just prophesying lies. They are prophesying the delusions of their own minds.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">The prophet Hananiah then took the yoke off the prophet Jeremiah&#8217;s neck and broke it.

<p class="bodytext">Then the prophet Jeremiah responded to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and all the people who were standing in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple.

<p class="bodytext">But shortly after the prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke off the prophet Jeremiah&#8217;s neck, the <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Jeremiah.

<p class="bodytext">In the seventh month of that very same year<n id="1" /> the prophet Hananiah died.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;You say, &#8216;The <sc>Lordsc> has raised up prophets of good news<n id="1" /> for us here in Babylon.&#8217;

The <sc>Lordsc> gave the prophet Jeremiah a message for them. He told him to tell them,<n id="1" />

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Before I formed you in your mother&#8217;s womb<n id="1" /> I chose you.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Before you were born I set you apart.p> <p class="poetry">I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.&#8221;p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;It did no good for me to punish your people.p> <p class="poetry">They did not respond to such correction.p> <p class="poetry">You slaughtered your prophetsp> <p class="poetry">like a voracious lion.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">The prophets will prove to be full of wind.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> has not spoken through them.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">So, let what they say happen to them.&#8217;&#8221;p>

<p class="poetry">Moreover,<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc> says,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;Both the prophets and priests are godless.p> <p class="poetry">I have even found them doing evil in my temple!p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> says,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I saw the prophets of Samaria<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">doing something that was disgusting.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">They prophesied in the name of the god Baalp> <p class="poetry">and led my people Israel astray.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">I did not send those prophets.p> <p class="poetry">Yet they were in a hurry to give their message.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I did not tell them anything.p> <p class="poetry">Yet they prophesied anyway.p>

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> says,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I have heard what those prophets who are prophesying lies in my name are saying. They are saying, &#8216;I have had a dream! I have had a dream!&#8217;<n id="2" />

So I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm<n id="1" /> that I am opposed to those prophets who steal messages from one another that they claim are from me.<n id="2" />

I, the <sc>Lord, affirmsc><n id="1" /> that I am opposed to those prophets who are using their own tongues to declare, &#8216;The <sc>Lordsc> declares&#8230;.&#8217;<n id="2" />

Each of you should merely ask the prophet, &#8216;What answer did the <sc>Lordsc> give you? Or what did the <sc>Lordsc> say?&#8217;<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Zephaniah the priest read that letter to the prophet Jeremiah.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">The prophet Jeremiah told all this to King Zedekiah of Judah in Jerusalem.
