so that he may initiate a search of the records<n id="1" /> of his predecessors<n id="2" /> and discover in those records<n id="3" /> that this city is rebellious<n id="4" /> and injurious to both kings and provinces, producing internal revolts<n id="5" /> from long ago.<n id="6" /> It is for this very reason that this city was destroyed.

<t /><p class="bodytext">So Darius the king issued orders, and they searched in the archives<n id="1" /> of the treasury which were deposited there in Babylon.
