He appointed judges throughout the land and in each of the fortified cities of Judah.<n id="1" />

In each city there were shields and spears; he strongly fortified them.<n id="1" /> Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.p>

One nation was crushed by another, and one city by another, for God caused them to be in great turmoil.<n id="1" />

He placed troops in all of Judah&#8217;s fortified cities and posted garrisons<n id="1" /> throughout the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had seized.p>

and built up Baalath, all the storage cities that belonged to him,<n id="1" /> and all the cities where chariots and horses were kept.<n id="2" /> He built whatever he wanted in Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> Lebanon, and throughout his entire kingdom.<n id="4" />p>

As for the descendants of Aaron, the priests who lived in the outskirts of all their cities,<n id="1" /> men were assigned<n id="2" /> to disburse portions to every male among the priests and to every Levite listed in the genealogical records.p>

He built up Tadmor in the wilderness and all the storage cities he had built in Hamath.

He had many supplies stored in the cities of Judah and an army of skilled warriors stationed in Jerusalem.<n id="1" />
