As the prophet from Judah was traveling, a lion attacked him on the road and killed him.<n id="1" /> His corpse was lying on the road, and the donkey and the lion just stood there beside it.<n id="2" />

Then a spirit<n id="1" /> stepped forward and stood before the <sc>Lordsc>. He said, &#8216;I will deceive him.&#8217; The <sc>Lordsc> asked him, &#8216;How?&#8217;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Solomon stood before the altar of the <sc>Lordsc> in front of the entire assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward the sky.<n id="1" />

When he stood up, he pronounced a blessing over the entire assembly of Israel, saying in a loud voice:

Your attendants, who stand before you at all times and hear your wise sayings, are truly happy!<n id="1" />

But Elijah said, &#8220;As certainly as the <sc>Lord who rules over allsc><n id="1" /> lives (whom I serve),<n id="2" /> I will make an appearance before him today.&#8221;p>

The prophet then went and stood by the road, waiting for the king. He also disguised himself by putting a bandage down over his eyes.

<t /><p class="bodytext">King David responded,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Summon Bathsheba!&#8221;<n id="2" /> She came and stood before the king.<n id="3" />

The priests could not carry out their duties<n id="1" /> because of the cloud; the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s glory filled his temple.<n id="2" />p>

Then the king turned around<n id="1" /> and pronounced a blessing over the whole Israelite assembly as they stood there.<n id="2" />

There were six steps leading up to the throne, and the back of it was rounded on top. The throne had two armrests with a statue of a lion standing on each side.<n id="1" />

There were twelve statues of lions on the six steps, one lion at each end of each step. There was nothing like it in any other kingdom.<n id="1" />p>

But Rehoboam rejected their advice and consulted the young advisers who served him, with whom he had grown up.<n id="1" />

Just then<n id="1" /> a prophet<n id="2" /> from Judah, sent by the <sc>Lordsc>, arrived in Bethel,<n id="3" /> as Jeroboam was standing near the altar ready to offer a sacrifice.

Nevertheless for David&#8217;s sake the <sc>Lordsc> his God maintained his dynasty<n id="1" /> in Jerusalem by giving him a son<n id="2" /> to succeed him<n id="3" /> and by protecting Jerusalem.<n id="4" />

When Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his robe and went out and stood at the entrance to the cave. All of a sudden<n id="1" /> a voice asked him, &#8220;Why are you here, Elijah?&#8221;

Micaiah<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;That being the case, hear the word of the <sc>Lordsc>. I saw the <sc>Lordsc> sitting on his throne, with all the heavenly assembly standing on his right and on his left.

While the battle raged throughout the day, the king stood propped up in his chariot opposite the Syrians. He died in the evening; the blood from the wound ran down into the bottom of the chariot.

His servants advised<n id="1" /> him, &#8220;A young virgin must be found for our master, the king,<n id="2" /> to take care of the king&#8217;s needs<n id="3" /> and serve as his nurse. She can also sleep with you<n id="4" /> and keep our master, the king, warm.&#8221;<n id="5" />
