<p class="bodytext">So I prophesied as I was commanded. There was a sound when I prophesied &#8211; I heard<n id="1" /> a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to bone.

<p class="poetry">Take the choice bone of the flock,p> <p class="poetry">heap up bones under it;p> <p class="poetry">boil rapidly,p> <p class="poetry">and boil its bones in it.p>

Then he said to me, &#8220;Prophesy over these bones, and tell them: &#8216;Dry bones, hear the word of the <sc>Lordsc>.

<p class="bodytext">Then he said to me, &#8220;Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Look, they are saying, &#8216;Our bones are dry, our hope has perished; we are cut off.&#8217;

I will place the corpses of the people of Israel in front of their idols,<n id="1" /> and I will scatter your bones around your altars.

<p class="poetry">add the pieces of meat to it,p> <p class="poetry">every good piece,p> <p class="poetry">the thigh and the shoulder;p> <p class="poetry">fill it with choice bones.p>

<p class="poetry">Pile up the bones, kindle the fire;p> <p class="poetry">cook the meat well, mix in the spices,p> <p class="poetry">let the bones be charred.p>

He said to me, &#8220;Son of man, can these bones live?&#8221; I said to him, &#8220;Sovereign Lord, you know.&#8221;

This is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says to these bones: Look, I am about to infuse breath<n id="1" /> into you and you will live.

&#8220;Son of man, write down the name of this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege<n id="1" /> to Jerusalem<n id="2" /> this very day.

<t /><p class="bodytext">The hand<n id="1" /> of the <sc>Lordsc> was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the <sc>Lordsc> and placed<n id="2" /> me in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones.

When the scouts survey<n id="1" /> the land and see a human bone, they will place a sign by it, until those assigned to burial duty have buried it<n id="2" /> in the valley of Hamon-Gog.

<p class="bodytext">He said to me, &#8220;Son of man, I am sending you to the house<n id="1" /> of Israel, to rebellious nations<n id="2" /> who have rebelled against me; both they and their fathers have revolted<n id="3" /> against me to this very day.

They do not lie with the fallen warriors of ancient times,<n id="1" /> who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, having their swords placed under their heads and their shields on their bones,<n id="2" /> when the terror of these warriors was in the land of the living.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city<n id="1" /> was struck down, on this very day,<n id="2" /> the hand<n id="3" /> of the <sc>Lordsc> was on me, and he brought me there.<n id="4" />
