So Amaziah dismissed the troops that had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home.<n id="1" /> They were very angry at Judah and returned home incensed.

Now listen to me! Send back those you have seized from your brothers, for the <sc>Lordsc> is very angry at you!&#8221;<n id="1" />

Now I intend<n id="1" /> to make a covenant with the <sc>Lordsc> God of Israel, so that he may relent from his raging anger.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">So when Rehoboam<n id="1" /> humbled himself, the <sc>Lordsc> relented from his anger and did not annihilate him;<n id="2" /> Judah experienced some good things.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face toward the ground, and all the people of Judah<n id="1" /> and the residents of Jerusalem fell down before the <sc>Lordsc> and worshiped him.<n id="2" />

When all the Israelites saw the fire come down and the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s splendor over the temple, they got on their knees with their faces downward toward the pavement. They worshiped and gave thanks to the <sc>Lordsc>, saying,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Certainly he is good; certainly his loyal love endures!&#8221;p>

The <sc>Lordsc> was angry at Amaziah and sent a prophet to him, who said, &#8220;Why are you following<n id="1" /> these gods<n id="2" /> that could not deliver their own people from your power?&#8221;<n id="3" />

They said to them, &#8220;Don&#8217;t bring those captives here! Are you planning on making us even more sinful and guilty before the <sc>Lordsc>?<n id="1" /> Our guilt is already great and the <sc>Lordsc> is very angry at Israel.&#8221;<n id="2" />

Now, don&#8217;t be stubborn<n id="1" /> like your fathers! Submit<n id="2" /> to the <sc>Lordsc> and come to his sanctuary which he has permanently consecrated. Serve the <sc>Lordsc> your God so that he might relent from his raging anger.<n id="3" />
