&#8220;Let the <sc>Lordsc>, the God of the spirits of all humankind,<n id="1" /> appoint<n id="2" /> a man over the community,

and if jealous feelings<n id="1" /> come over him and he becomes suspicious<n id="2" /> of his wife, when she is defiled;<n id="3" /> or if jealous feelings come over him and he becomes suspicious of his wife, when she is not defiled &#8211;

And the <sc>Lordsc> came down in the cloud and spoke to them, and he took some of the Spirit that was on Moses<n id="1" /> and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them,<n id="2" /> they prophesied,<n id="3" /> but did not do so again.<n id="4" />p>

Moses said to him, &#8220;Are you jealous for me?<n id="1" /> I wish that<n id="2" /> all the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s people were prophets, that the <sc>Lordsc> would put his Spirit on them!&#8221;

Only my servant Caleb, because he had a different spirit and has followed me fully &#8211; I will bring him into the land where he had gone, and his descendants<n id="1" /> will possess it.

Then they threw themselves down with their faces to the ground<n id="1" /> and said, &#8220;O God, the God of the spirits of all people,<n id="2" /> will you be angry with the whole community when only one man sins?&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

When Balaam lifted up his eyes, he saw Israel camped tribe by tribe;<n id="1" /> and the Spirit of God came upon him.

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> replied<n id="1" /> to Moses, &#8220;Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is such a spirit,<n id="2" /> and lay your hand on him;<n id="3" />

or when jealous feelings come over a man and he becomes suspicious of his wife; then he must have the woman stand before the <sc>Lordsc>, and the priest will carry out all this law upon her.

Then I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take part of the spirit that is on you, and will put it on them, and they will bear some of the burden of the people with you, so that you do not bear it<n id="1" /> all by yourself.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">But two men remained in the camp; one&#8217;s name was Eldad, and the other&#8217;s name was Medad. And the spirit rested on them. (Now they were among those in the registration,<n id="1" /> but had not gone to the tabernacle.) So they prophesied in the camp.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now a wind<n id="1" /> went out<n id="2" /> from the <sc>Lordsc> and brought quail<n id="3" /> from the sea, and let them fall<n id="4" /> near the camp, about a day&#8217;s journey on this side, and about a day&#8217;s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about three feet<n id="5" /> high on the surface of the ground.
