Since Jacob had fallen in love with<n id="1" /> Rachel, he said, &#8220;I&#8217;ll serve you seven years in exchange for your younger daughter Rachel.&#8221;

Jacob<n id="1" /> had marital relations<n id="2" /> with Rachel as well. He loved Rachel more than Leah, so he worked for Laban<n id="3" /> for seven more years.<n id="4" />p>

Then Jacob kissed Rachel and began to weep loudly.<n id="1" />

So Jacob sent a message for Rachel and Leah<n id="1" /> to come to the field<n id="2" /> where his flocks were.<n id="3" />

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).<n id="1" />

&#8220;Is he well?&#8221;<n id="1" /> Jacob asked. They replied, &#8220;He is well.<n id="2" /> Now look, here comes his daughter Rachel with the sheep.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">While he was still speaking with them, Rachel arrived with her father&#8217;s sheep, for she was tending them.<n id="1" />

(Now Laban had two daughters;<n id="1" /> the older one was named Leah, and the younger one Rachel.

Leah&#8217;s eyes were tender,<n id="1" /> but Rachel had a lovely figure and beautiful appearance.)<n id="2" />

So Jacob worked for seven years to acquire Rachel.<n id="1" /> But they seemed like only a few days to him<n id="2" /> because his love for her was so great.<n id="3" />p>

(Laban gave his female servant Bilhah to his daughter Rachel to be her servant.)<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">When the <sc>Lordsc> saw that Leah was unloved,<n id="1" /> he enabled her to become pregnant<n id="2" /> while Rachel remained childless.

<p class="bodytext">Bilhah, Rachel&#8217;s servant, became pregnant again and gave Jacob another son.<n id="1" />

Then Rachel said, &#8220;I have fought a desperate struggle with my sister, but I have won.&#8221;<n id="1" /> So she named him Naphtali.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then God took note of<n id="1" /> Rachel. He paid attention to her and enabled her to become pregnant.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then Rachel and Leah replied to him, &#8220;Do we still have any portion or inheritance<n id="1" /> in our father&#8217;s house?

<p class="bodytext">While Laban had gone to shear his sheep,<n id="1" /> Rachel stole the household idols<n id="2" /> that belonged to her father.
