&#8220;Not a single person<n id="1" /> of this evil generation will see the good land that I promised to give to your ancestors!

<t /><p class="bodytext">After you have produced children and grandchildren and have been in the land a long time,<n id="1" /> if you become corrupt and make an image of any kind<n id="2" /> and do other evil things before the <sc>Lordsc> your God that enrage him,<n id="3" />

The <sc>Lordsc> will protect you from all sickness, and you will not experience any of the terrible diseases that you knew in Egypt; instead he will inflict them on all those who hate you.p>

Thus all Israel will hear and be afraid; no longer will they continue to do evil like this among you.<n id="1" />p>

If they have any kind of blemish &#8211; lameness, blindness, or anything else<n id="1" /> &#8211; you may not offer them as a sacrifice to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

You must not sacrifice to him<n id="1" /> a bull or sheep that has a blemish or any other defect, because that is considered offensive<n id="2" /> to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

The witnesses<n id="1" /> must be first to begin the execution, and then all the people<n id="2" /> are to join in afterward. In this way you will purge evil from among you.p>

Then all the men of his city must stone him to death. In this way you will purge out<n id="1" /> wickedness from among you, and all Israel<n id="2" /> will hear about it and be afraid.p>

<p class="bodytext">If a man is found kidnapping a person from among his fellow Israelites,<n id="1" /> and regards him as mere property<n id="2" /> and sells him, that kidnapper<n id="3" /> must die. In this way you will purge<n id="4" /> evil from among you.p>

The <sc>Lordsc> will afflict you in your knees and on your legs with painful, incurable boils &#8211; from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.

then the <sc>Lordsc> will increase your punishments and those of your descendants &#8211; great and long-lasting afflictions and severe, enduring illnesses.

The <sc>Lordsc> will single him out<n id="1" /> for judgment<n id="2" /> from all the tribes of Israel according to all the curses of the covenant written in this scroll of the law.
