I will put an end to the sounds of joy and gladness, or the glad celebration of brides and grooms throughout the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. For the whole land will become a desolate wasteland.&#8221;p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> affirms,<n id="1" /> &#8220;The descendants of Israel will notp> <p class="poetry">cease forever to be a nation in my sight.p> <p class="poetry">That could only happen if the fixed ordering of the heavenly lightsp> <p class="poetry">were to cease to operate before me.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Joy and gladness will disappearp> <p class="poetry">from the fruitful land of Moab.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I will stop the flow of wine from the winepresses.p> <p class="poetry">No one will stomp on the grapes there and shout for joy.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">The shouts there will be shouts of soldiers,p> <p class="poetry">not the shouts of those making wine.<n id="3" />p>

For I, the <sc>Lordsc> God of Israel who rules over all, tell you what will happen.<n id="1" /> I will put an end to the sounds of joy and gladness, to the glad celebration of brides and grooms in this land. You and the rest of the people will live to see this happen.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

Tell King Jehoiakim of Judah, &#8216;The <sc>Lordsc> says, &#8220;You burned the scroll. You asked<n id="1" /> Jeremiah, &#8216;How dare you write in this scroll that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land and wipe out all the people and animals on it?&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />
