<p class="bodytext">So David sent a message to Joab that said, &#8220;Send me Uriah the Hittite.&#8221; So Joab sent Uriah to David.

Then Absalom sent a message to Joab asking him to send him to the king, but Joab was not willing to come to him. So he sent a second message to him, but he still was not willing to come.

<p class="poetry">He shot<n id="1" /> arrows and scattered them,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">lightning and routed them.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">He reached down from above and grabbed me;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">he pulled me from the surging water.<n id="2" />p>

The woman conceived and then sent word to David saying, &#8220;I&#8217;m pregnant.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Then Joab sent a full battle report to David.<n id="1" />

David replied to him, &#8220;How is it that you were not afraid to reach out your hand to destroy the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s anointed?&#8221;

So Ish-bosheth took her<n id="1" /> from her husband Paltiel<n id="2" /> son of Laish.

<p class="bodytext">So King David had him brought<n id="1" /> from the house of Makir son of Ammiel in<n id="2" /> Lo Debar.

<p class="bodytext">When David heard the news, he sent Joab and the entire army to meet them.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah.

<p class="bodytext">So the messenger departed. When he arrived, he informed David of all the news that Joab had sent with him.

and sent word through Nathan the prophet that he should be named Jedidiah<n id="1" /> for the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s sake.p>

But when Absalom pressed him, he sent Amnon and all the king&#8217;s sons along with him.p>

<p class="bodytext">When someone approached to bow before him, Absalom<n id="1" /> would extend his hand and embrace him and kiss him.

the Ammonite officials said to their lord Hanun, &#8220;Do you really think David is trying to honor your father by sending these messengers to express his sympathy?<n id="1" /> No, David has sent his servants to you to get information about the city and spy on it so they can overthrow it!&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

When Joab and all the army that was with him arrived, Joab was told: &#8220;Abner the son of Ner came to the king; he sent him away, and he left in peace!&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">So Joab went to the king and said, &#8220;What have you done? Abner<n id="1" /> has come to you! Why would you send him away? Now he&#8217;s gone on his way!<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then Joab left David and sent messengers after Abner. They brought him back from the well of Sirah. (But David was not aware of it.)

<p class="bodytext">King Hiram of Tyre<n id="1" /> sent messengers to David, along with cedar logs, carpenters, and stonemasons. They built a palace<n id="2" /> for David.
