I listened to his voice,<n id="1" /> and as I did so<n id="2" /> I fell into a trance-like sleep with my face to the ground.

So the warden<n id="1" /> agreed to their proposal<n id="2" /> and tested them for ten<n id="3" /> days.p>

Then I heard a human voice coming from between the banks of the Ulai. It called out, &#8220;Gabriel,<n id="1" /> enable this person to understand the vision.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, &#8220;Sir,<n id="1" /> what will happen after these things?&#8221;

We have not paid attention to your servants the prophets, who spoke by your authority<n id="1" /> to our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors,<n id="2" /> and to all the inhabitants<n id="3" /> of the land as well.p>

We have not obeyed<n id="1" /> the <sc>LORDsc> our God by living according to<n id="2" /> his laws<n id="3" /> that he set before us through his servants the prophets.p>

The <sc>LORDsc> was mindful of the calamity, and he brought it on us. For the <sc>LORDsc> our God is just<n id="1" /> in all he has done,<n id="2" /> and we have not obeyed him.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;So now, our God, accept<n id="1" /> the prayer and requests of your servant, and show favor to<n id="2" /> your devastated sanctuary for your own sake.<n id="3" />

O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, pay attention, and act! Don&#8217;t delay, for your own sake, O my God! For your city and your people are called by your name.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then I heard a holy one<n id="1" /> speaking. Another holy one said to the one who was speaking, &#8220;To what period of time does the vision pertain &#8211; this vision concerning the daily sacrifice and the destructive act of rebellion and the giving over of both the sanctuary and army to be trampled?&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;All Israel has broken<n id="1" /> your law and turned away by not obeying you.<n id="2" /> Therefore you have poured out on us the judgment solemnly threatened<n id="3" /> in the law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against you.<n id="4" />

Listen attentively,<n id="1" /> my God, and hear! Open your eyes and look on our desolated ruins<n id="2" /> and the city called by your name.<n id="3" /> For it is not because of our own righteous deeds that we are praying to you,<n id="4" /> but because your compassion is abundant.

Then he said to me, &#8220;Don&#8217;t be afraid, Daniel, for from the very first day you applied your mind<n id="1" /> to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come in response to your words.

Then I heard the man clothed in linen who was over the waters of the river as he raised both his right and left hands to the sky<n id="1" /> and made an oath by the one who lives forever: &#8220;It is for a time, times, and half a time. Then, when the power of the one who shatters<n id="2" /> the holy people has been exhausted, all these things will be finished.&#8221;p>
