Another third of you will be stationed at the Foundation<n id="1" /> Gate. Still another third of you will be stationed at the gate behind the royal guard.<n id="2" /> You will take turns guarding the palace.<n id="3" />

This is exactly what happened to him. The people trampled him to death in the city gate.p>

The messenger came and told Jehu,<n id="1" /> &#8220;They have brought the heads of the king&#8217;s sons.&#8221; Jehu<n id="2" /> said, &#8220;Stack them in two piles at the entrance of the city gate until morning.&#8221;

But the high places were not eliminated; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense on the high places. He built the Upper Gate to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple.p>

He took the officers of the units of hundreds, the Carians, the royal bodyguard, and all the people of land, and together they led the king down from the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple. They entered the royal palace through the Gate of the Royal Bodyguard,<n id="1" /> and the king<n id="2" /> sat down on the royal throne.

They left the city during the night.<n id="2" /> They went through the gate between the two walls that is near the king&#8217;s garden.<n id="3" /> (The Babylonians were all around the city.) Then they headed for the Jordan Valley.<n id="4" />
