<p class="poetry">and those who turn their backs on<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc>p> <p class="poetry">and do not want the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s help or guidance.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Seek the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s favor,<n id="1" /> all you humble people<n id="2" /> of the land who have obeyed his commands!<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">Strive to do what is right!<n id="4" /> Strive to be humble!<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">Maybe you will be protected<n id="6" /> on the day of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s angry judgment.p>

<p class="poetry">&#8220;I have heard Moab&#8217;s tauntsp> <p class="poetry">and the Ammonites&#8217; insults.p> <p class="poetry">They<n id="1" /> taunted my peoplep> <p class="poetry">and verbally harassed those living in Judah.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">I thought,<n id="1" /> &#8216;Certainly you will respect<n id="2" /> me!p> <p class="poetry">Now you will accept correction!&#8217;p> <p class="poetry">If she had done so, her home<n id="3" /> would not be destroyed<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">by all the punishments I have threatened.<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">But they eagerly sinnedp> <p class="poetry">in everything they did.<n id="6" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">This is the prophetic message that the <sc>Lordsc> gave to<n id="1" /> Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah. Zephaniah delivered this message during the reign of<n id="2" /> King Josiah son of Amon of Judah:p>

<p class="poetry">In that day you<n id="1" /> will not be ashamed of all your rebelliousness against me,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">for then I will remove from your midst those who proudly boast,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">and you will never again be arrogant on my holy hill.p>
