You must build the altar of the <sc>Lordsc> your God with whole stones and offer burnt offerings on it to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

so that you may enter by oath into the covenant the <sc>Lordsc> your God is making with you today.<n id="1" />

You must be blameless before the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

for the <sc>Lordsc> your God, who is present among you, is a jealous God and his anger will erupt against you and remove you from the land.<n id="1" />p>

a land the <sc>Lordsc> your God looks after.<n id="1" /> He is constantly attentive to it<n id="2" /> from the beginning to the end of the year.<n id="3" />

You must offer your burnt offerings, both meat and blood, on the altar of the <sc>Lordsc> your God; the blood of your other sacrifices<n id="1" /> you must pour out on his<n id="2" /> altar while you eat the meat.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Observe the month Abib<n id="1" /> and keep the Passover to the <sc>Lordsc> your God, for in that month<n id="2" /> he<n id="3" /> brought you out of Egypt by night.

Then you are to celebrate the Festival of Weeks<n id="1" /> before the <sc>Lordsc> your God with the voluntary offering<n id="2" /> that you will bring, in proportion to how he<n id="3" /> has blessed you.

You must not sacrifice to him<n id="1" /> a bull or sheep that has a blemish or any other defect, because that is considered offensive<n id="2" /> to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

<t /><p class="bodytext">When the <sc>Lordsc> your God destroys the nations whose land he<n id="1" /> is about to give you and you dispossess them and settle in their cities and houses,

You must never bring the pay of a female prostitute<n id="1" /> or the wage of a male prostitute<n id="2" /> into the temple of the <sc>Lordsc> your God in fulfillment of any vow, for both of these are abhorrent to the <sc>Lordsc> your God.p>

When you make a vow to the <sc>Lordsc> your God you must not delay in fulfilling it, for otherwise he<n id="1" /> will surely<n id="2" /> hold you accountable as a sinner.<n id="3" />

the <sc>Lordsc> your God will reverse your captivity and have pity on you. He will turn and gather you from all the peoples among whom he<n id="1" /> has scattered you.

The <sc>Lordsc> your God will also cleanse<n id="1" /> your heart and the hearts of your descendants<n id="2" /> so that you may love him<n id="3" /> with all your mind and being and so that you may live.

For the <sc>Lordsc> your God is a consuming fire; he is a jealous God.<n id="1" />p>

You must revere the <sc>Lordsc> your God, serve him, and take oaths using only his name.

You must not erect a sacred pillar,<n id="1" /> a thing the <sc>Lordsc> your God detests.

Also you must offer fellowship offerings and eat them there, rejoicing before the <sc>Lordsc> your God.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now, Israel, what does the <sc>Lordsc> your God require of you except to revere him,<n id="1" /> to obey all his commandments,<n id="2" /> to love him, to serve him<n id="3" /> with all your mind and being,<n id="4" />

Only in the presence of the <sc>Lordsc> your God may you eat these, in the place he<n id="1" /> chooses. This applies to you, your son, your daughter, your male and female servants, and the Levites<n id="2" /> in your villages. In that place you will rejoice before the <sc>Lordsc> your God in all the output of your labor.<n id="3" />
