A mixed multitude<n id="1" /> also went up with them, and flocks and herds &#8211; a very large number of cattle.<n id="2" />

Let the priests also, who approach the <sc>Lordsc>, sanctify themselves, lest the <sc>Lordsc> break through<n id="1" /> against them.&#8221;p>

They said, &#8220;An Egyptian man rescued us<n id="1" /> from the shepherds,<n id="2" /> and he actually<n id="3" /> drew water for us and watered the flock!&#8221;

And now indeed<n id="1" /> the cry<n id="2" /> of the Israelites has come to me, and I have also seen how severely the Egyptians oppress them.<n id="3" />

I also established my covenant with them<n id="1" /> to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living as resident foreigners.<n id="2" />

I<n id="1" /> have also heard<n id="2" /> the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving,<n id="3" /> and I have remembered my covenant.<n id="4" />

If you do this thing, and God so commands you,<n id="1" /> then you will be able<n id="2" /> to endure,<n id="3" /> and all these people<n id="4" /> will be able to go<n id="5" /> home<n id="6" /> satisfied.&#8221;<n id="7" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Then the <sc>Lordsc> became angry with<n id="1" /> Moses, and he said, &#8220;What about<n id="2" /> your brother Aaron the Levite?<n id="3" /> I know that he can speak very well.<n id="4" /> Moreover, he is coming<n id="5" /> to meet you, and when he sees you he will be glad in his heart.<n id="6" />p>

But Pharaoh said, &#8220;Who is the <sc>Lordsc><n id="1" /> that<n id="2" /> I should obey him<n id="3" /> by releasing<n id="4" /> Israel? I do not know the <sc>Lordsc>,<n id="5" /> and I will not release Israel!&#8221;

If you do not release<n id="1" /> my people, then I am going to send<n id="2" /> swarms of flies<n id="3" /> on you and on your servants and on your people and in your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies, and even the ground they stand on.<n id="4" />

Our livestock must<n id="1" /> also go with us! Not a hoof is to be left behind! For we must take<n id="2" /> these animals<n id="3" /> to serve the <sc>Lordsc> our God. Until we arrive there, we do not know what we must use to serve the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>

They baked cakes of bread without yeast using the dough they had brought from Egypt, for it was made without yeast &#8211; because they were thrust out<n id="1" /> of Egypt and were not able to delay, they<n id="2" /> could not prepare<n id="3" /> food for themselves either.p>

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> said to Moses, &#8220;I am going to come<n id="1" /> to you in a dense cloud,<n id="2" /> so that the people may hear when I speak with you and so that they will always believe in you.&#8221;<n id="3" /> And Moses told the words of the people to the <sc>Lordsc>.p>

But if the ox had the habit of goring, and its owner was warned,<n id="1" /> and he did not take the necessary precautions,<n id="2" /> and then it killed a man or a woman, the ox must be stoned and the man must be put to death.

If the ox of one man injures the ox of his neighbor so that it dies, then they will sell the live ox and divide its proceeds,<n id="1" /> and they will also divide the dead ox.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Moses said to the <sc>Lordsc>, &#8220;See, you have been saying to me, &#8216;Bring this people up,&#8217;<n id="1" /> but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. But you said, &#8216;I know you by name,<n id="2" /> and also you have found favor in my sight.&#8217;

No one is to come up with you; do not let anyone be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks or the herds may graze in front of that mountain.&#8221;
