But Moses called to them, so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and Moses spoke to them.

<p class="bodytext">But Lot said to them, &#8220;No, please, Lord!<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">When the man<n id="1" /> overtook them, he spoke these words to them.

So Moses went down to the people and spoke to them.<n id="1" />p>

He turned away from them and wept. When he turned around and spoke to them again,<n id="1" /> he had Simeon taken<n id="2" /> from them and tied up<n id="3" /> before their eyes.p>

<p class="bodytext">Lot went outside to them, shutting the door behind him.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;No,&#8221; he insisted, &#8220;but you have come to see if our land is vulnerable.&#8221;<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them,

<p class="poetry">If I smiled at them, they hardly believed it;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">and they did not cause the light of my face to darken.<n id="2" />p>

But he said to them, &#8220;Don&#8217;t detain me &#8211; the <sc>Lordsc><n id="1" /> has granted me success on my journey. Let me leave now so I may return<n id="2" /> to my master.&#8221;

Isaac asked them, &#8220;Why have you come to me? You hate me<n id="1" /> and sent me away from you.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">But Joseph told them, &#8220;It is just as I said to you:<n id="1" /> You are spies!

On the third day Joseph said to them, &#8220;Do as I say<n id="1" /> and you will live,<n id="2" /> for I fear God.<n id="3" />

Then he sent his brothers on their way and they left. He said to them, &#8220;As you travel don&#8217;t be overcome with fear.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

But Joseph answered them, &#8220;Don&#8217;t be afraid. Am<n id="1" /> I in the place of God?

Yet Pharaoh&#8217;s heart became hard,<n id="1" /> and he did not listen to them, just as the <sc>Lordsc> had predicted.p>

<p class="bodytext">Moses said to them, &#8220;No one<n id="1" /> is to keep any of it<n id="2" /> until morning.&#8221;

&#8220;Speak to the Israelites and tell them, &#8216;I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God!

So Moses said to them, &#8220;Remain<n id="1" /> here and I will hear<n id="2" /> what the <sc>Lordsc> will command concerning you.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Therefore you will say to them,<n id="1" /> &#8216;When you offer up<n id="2" /> the best of it, then it will be credited to the Levites as the product of the threshing floor and as the product of the winepress.
