<p class="bodytext">Abraham got up and bowed down to the local people,<n id="1" /> the sons of Heth.

<p class="bodytext">Then Abraham got up from mourning his dead wife<n id="1" /> and said to the sons of Heth,<n id="2" />

So Abraham secured the field and the cave that was in it as a burial site<n id="1" /> from the sons of Heth.p>

<p class="bodytext">So Jacob immediately put his children and his wives on the camels.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Cain said to his brother Abel, &#8220;Let&#8217;s go out to the field.&#8221;<n id="1" /> While they were in the field, Cain attacked<n id="2" /> his brother<n id="3" /> Abel and killed him.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">The two angels came to Sodom in the evening while<n id="1" /> Lot was sitting in the city&#8217;s gateway.<n id="2" /> When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face toward the ground.p>

<p class="bodytext">So they made a treaty<n id="1" /> at Beer Sheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, returned<n id="2" /> to the land of the Philistines.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew; Esau ate and drank, then got up and went out.<n id="1" /> So Esau despised his birthright.<n id="2" />p>

He left<n id="1" /> with all he owned. He quickly crossed<n id="2" /> the Euphrates River<n id="3" /> and headed for<n id="4" /> the hill country of Gilead.p>

<p class="bodytext">Early in the morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey.<n id="1" /> He took two of his young servants with him, along with his son Isaac. When he had cut the wood for the burnt offering, he started out<n id="2" /> for the place God had spoken to him about.p>

<p class="bodytext">So Abraham secured<n id="1" /> Ephron&#8217;s field in Machpelah, next to Mamre, including the field, the cave that was in it, and all the trees that were in the field and all around its border,

<p class="bodytext">Then the servant took ten of his master&#8217;s camels and departed with all kinds of gifts from his master at his disposal.<n id="1" /> He journeyed<n id="2" /> to the region of Aram Naharaim<n id="3" /> and the city of Nahor.

<p class="bodytext">During the night Jacob quickly took<n id="1" /> his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons<n id="2" /> and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">Then Jacob started out<n id="1" /> from Beer Sheba, and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob, their little children, and their wives in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent along to transport him.
