“During those days the Israelites traveled from Beeroth Bene-Yaaqan ¹  to Moserah. ²  There Aaron died and was buried, and his son Eleazar became priest in his place.

Also you must offer fellowship offerings and eat them there, rejoicing before the Lord your God.

For I will proclaim the name ¹  of the Lord; you must acknowledge the greatness of our God.

As for me, the Lord was also angry with me on your account. He said, “You also will not be able to go there.

and serves in the name of the Lord his God like his fellow Levites who stand there before the Lord.

Then you must build an altar there to the Lord your God, an altar of stones – do not use an iron tool on them.

Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you belong to the Lord, ¹  and they will respect you.

So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab as the Lord had said.

Then you must affirm before the Lord your God, “A wandering ¹  Aramean ²  was my ancestor, ³  and he went down to Egypt and lived there as a foreigner with a household few in number, ⁴  but there he became a great, powerful, and numerous people.

There you will worship gods made by human hands – wood and stone that can neither see, hear, eat, nor smell.

You must not make use of the name of the Lord your God for worthless purposes, ¹  for the Lord will not exonerate anyone who abuses his name that way. ² 

Then I turned, went down the mountain, and placed the tablets into the ark I had made – they are still there, just as the Lord commanded me.

But you must seek only the place he ¹  chooses from all your tribes to establish his name as his place of residence, ²  and you must go there.

Both you and your families ¹  must feast there before the Lord your God and rejoice in all the output of your labor with which he ²  has blessed you.

for you may do so ¹  only in the place the Lord chooses in one of your tribal areas – there you may do everything I am commanding you. ² 

Suppose you should hear in one of your cities, which the Lord your God is giving you as a place to live, that

You must sacrifice the Passover animal ¹  (from the flock or the herd) to the Lord your God in the place where he ²  chooses to locate his name.

Then ¹  the first son ²  she bears will continue the name of the dead brother, thus preventing his name from being blotted out of Israel.

“Take this scroll of the law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God. It will remain there as a witness against you,

They will summon peoples to the mountain, there they will sacrifice proper ¹  sacrifices; for they will enjoy ²  the abundance of the seas, and the hidden treasures of the shores. ³
