So Laban invited all the people<n id="1" /> of that place and prepared a feast.

<p class="bodytext">Abraham got up early in the morning and went<n id="1" /> to the place where he had stood before the <sc>Lordsc>.

<p class="bodytext">On the third day Abraham caught sight of<n id="1" /> the place in the distance.

He called that place Bethel,<n id="1" /> although the former name of the town was Luz.

Jacob named the place<n id="1" /> where God spoke with him Bethel.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">When the men of that place asked him about his wife, he replied, &#8220;She is my sister.&#8221;<n id="1" /> He was afraid to say, &#8220;She is my wife,&#8221; for he thought to himself,<n id="2" /> &#8220;The men of this place will kill me to get<n id="3" /> Rebekah because she is very beautiful.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">And he journeyed from place to place<n id="1" /> from the Negev as far as Bethel.<n id="2" /> He returned<n id="3" /> to the place where he had pitched his tent<n id="4" /> at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai.

<p class="bodytext">So the <sc>Lordsc> replied, &#8220;If I find in the city of Sodom fifty godly people, I will spare the whole place for their sake.&#8221;p>

Then the two visitors<n id="1" /> said to Lot, &#8220;Who else do you have here?<n id="2" /> Do you have<n id="3" /> any sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or other relatives in the city?<n id="4" /> Get them out of this<n id="5" /> place

because we are about to destroy<n id="1" /> it. The outcry against this place<n id="2" /> is so great before the <sc>Lordsc> that he<n id="3" /> has sent us to destroy it.&#8221;p>

And Abraham called the name of that place &#8220;The <sc>Lordsc> provides.&#8221;<n id="1" /> It is said to this day,<n id="2" /> &#8220;In the mountain of the <sc>Lordsc> provision will be made.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

He reached a certain place<n id="1" /> where he decided to camp because the sun had gone down.<n id="2" /> He took one of the stones<n id="3" /> and placed it near his head.<n id="4" /> Then he fell asleep<n id="5" /> in that place

He was afraid and said, &#8220;What an awesome place this is! This is nothing else than the house of God! This is the gate of heaven!&#8221;p>

When Jacob saw them, he exclaimed,<n id="1" /> &#8220;This is the camp of God!&#8221; So he named that place Mahanaim.<n id="2" />p>

So Jacob named the place Peniel,<n id="1" /> explaining,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Certainly<n id="3" /> I have seen God face to face<n id="4" /> and have survived.&#8221;<n id="5" />p>

But<n id="1" /> Jacob traveled to Succoth<n id="2" /> where he built himself a house and made shelters for his livestock. That is why the place was called<n id="3" /> Succoth.<n id="4" />p>

So he returned to Judah and said, &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t find her. Moreover, the men of the place said, &#8216;There has been no cult prostitute here.&#8217;&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">After Lot had departed, the <sc>Lordsc> said to Abram,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Look<n id="2" /> from the place where you stand to the north, south, east, and west.

<p class="bodytext">Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who were going to marry his daughters.<n id="1" /> He said, &#8220;Quick, get out of this place because the <sc>Lordsc> is about to destroy<n id="2" /> the city!&#8221; But his sons-in-law thought he was ridiculing them.<n id="3" />p>

When God made me wander<n id="1" /> from my father&#8217;s house, I told her, &#8216;This is what you can do to show your loyalty to me:<n id="2" /> Every place we go, say about me, &#8220;He is my brother.&#8221;&#8217;&#8221;p>
