<p class="poetry">I gloat in triumph over those who tried to ambush me;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I hear the defeated cries of the evil foes who attacked me.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Who will rise up to defend me<n id="1" /> against the wicked?p> <p class="poetry">Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Sing to the <sc>Lordsc>! Praise the <sc>Lordsc>!p> <p class="poetry">For he rescues the oppressed from the clutches of evildoers.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">You will not be buried with them,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">because you destroyed your landp> <p class="poetry">and killed your people.p> <p class="poetry">The offspring of the wickedp> <p class="poetry">will never be mentioned again.p>

<p class="poetry">Yet he too is wise<n id="1" /> and he will bring disaster;p> <p class="poetry">he does not retract his decree.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">He will attack the wicked nation,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">and the nation that helps<n id="4" /> those who commit sin.<n id="5" />p>

<p class="poetry">But I see the prophets of Jerusalem<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">doing something just as shocking.p> <p class="poetry">They are unfaithful to mep> <p class="poetry">and continually prophesy lies.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">So they give encouragement to people who are doing evil,p> <p class="poetry">with the result that they do not stop their evildoing.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">I consider all of them as bad as the people of Sodom,p> <p class="poetry">and the citizens of Jerusalem as bad as the people of Gomorrah.<n id="4" />p>
