Then Jehu ordered, &#8220;Make arrangements for<n id="1" /> a celebration for Baal.&#8221; So they announced it.

So Jehu eradicated Baal worship<n id="1" /> from Israel.p>

<p class="bodytext">When Jehoram saw Jehu, he asked, &#8220;Is everything all right, Jehu?&#8221; He replied, &#8220;How can everything be all right as long as your mother Jezebel promotes idolatry and pagan practices?&#8221;<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jehu assembled all the people and said to them, &#8220;Ahab worshiped<n id="1" /> Baal a little; Jehu will worship<n id="2" /> him with great devotion.<n id="3" />

Jehu passed away<n id="1" /> and was buried in Samaria.<n id="2" /> His son Jehoahaz replaced him as king.

Jehu reigned over Israel for twenty-eight years in Samaria.p>

When you arrive there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi and take him aside into an inner room.<n id="1" />

When he arrived, the officers of the army were sitting there.<n id="1" /> So he said, &#8220;I have a message for you, O officer.&#8221;<n id="2" /> Jehu asked, &#8220;For which one of us?&#8221;<n id="3" /> He replied, &#8220;For you, O officer.&#8221;

Each of them quickly took off his cloak and they spread them out at Jehu&#8217;s<n id="1" /> feet on the steps.<n id="2" /> The trumpet was blown<n id="3" /> and they shouted, &#8220;Jehu is<n id="4" /> king!&#8221;

Jehu drove his chariot<n id="1" /> to Jezreel, for Joram was recuperating<n id="2" /> there. (Now King Ahaziah of Judah had come down to visit<n id="3" /> Joram.)p>

The watchman reported, &#8220;He reached them, but hasn&#8217;t started back. The one who drives the lead chariot drives like Jehu son of Nimshi;<n id="1" /> he drives recklessly.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Jehu approached Jezreel. When Jezebel heard the news, she put on some eye liner,<n id="1" /> fixed up her hair, and leaned out the window.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Ahab had seventy sons living in Samaria.<n id="1" /> So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria to the leading officials of Jezreel and to the guardians of Ahab&#8217;s dynasty. This is what the letters said,<n id="2" />

Then Jehu killed all who were left of Ahab&#8217;s family in Jezreel, and all his nobles, close friends, and priests. He left no survivors.p>

<p class="bodytext">The rest of the events of Jehu&#8217;s reign, including all his accomplishments and successes, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Israel.<n id="1" />

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel. He said, &#8220;Come, let&#8217;s meet face to face.&#8221;<n id="1" />

His assassination brought to fulfillment the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s word to Jehu,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Four generations of your descendants will rule over Israel.&#8221;<n id="2" /> That is exactly what happened.<n id="3" />p>

Then Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi conspired against Joram.p><t /><p class="bodytext">Now Joram had been in Ramoth Gilead with the whole Israelite army,<n id="1" /> guarding against an invasion by King Hazael of Syria.

But King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he received from the Syrians<n id="1" /> when he fought against King Hazael of Syria.<n id="2" /> Jehu told his supporters,<n id="3" /> &#8220;If you really want me to be king,<n id="4" /> then don&#8217;t let anyone escape from the city to go and warn Jezreel.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel and saw Jehu&#8217;s troops approaching.<n id="1" /> He said, &#8220;I see troops!&#8221;<n id="2" /> Jehoram ordered,<n id="3" /> &#8220;Send a rider out to meet them and have him ask, &#8216;Is everything all right?&#8217;&#8221;<n id="4" />
