<p class="poetry">like heat<n id="1" /> in a dry land,p> <p class="poetry">you humble the boasting foreigners.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Just as the shadow of a cloud causes the heat to subside,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">so he causes the song of tyrants to cease.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">Indeed,<n id="1" /> nations or kingdoms that do not serve you will perish;p> <p class="poetry">such nations will be totally destroyed.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">They will rebuild the perpetual ruinsp> <p class="poetry">and restore the places that were desolate;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">they will reestablish the ruined cities,p> <p class="poetry">the places that have been desolate since ancient times.p>

<p class="poetry">But you have been thrown out of your gravep> <p class="poetry">like a shoot that is thrown away.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">You lie among<n id="2" /> the slain,p> <p class="poetry">among those who have been slashed by the sword,p> <p class="poetry">among those headed for<n id="3" /> the stones of the pit,<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">as if you were a mangled corpse.<n id="5" />p>

<p class="poetry">For they flee from the swords &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">from the drawn swordp> <p class="poetry">and from the battle-ready bowp> <p class="poetry">and from the severity of the battle.p>

<p class="poetry">The noisy city is full of raucous sounds;p> <p class="poetry">the town is filled with revelry.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Your slain were not cut down by the sword;p> <p class="poetry">they did not die in battle.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Assyria will fall by a sword, but not one human-made;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">a sword not made by humankind will destroy them.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">They will run away from this sword<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">and their young men will be forced to do hard labor.p>

<p class="poetry">He will judge disputes between nations;p> <p class="poetry">he will settle cases for many peoples.p> <p class="poetry">They will beat their swords into plowshares,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">and their spears into pruning hooks.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Nations will not take up the sword against other nations,p> <p class="poetry">and they will no longer train for war.p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s sword is dripping with blood,p> <p class="poetry">it is covered<n id="1" /> with fat;p> <p class="poetry">it drips<n id="2" /> with the blood of young rams and goatsp> <p class="poetry">and is covered<n id="3" /> with the fat of rams&#8217; kidneys.p> <p class="poetry">For the <sc>Lordsc> is holding a sacrifice<n id="4" /> in Bozrah,<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">a bloody<n id="6" /> slaughter in the land of Edom.p>
