<p class="bodytext">The Philistines went up and invaded<n id="1" /> Judah. They arrayed themselves for battle<n id="2" /> in Lehi.

<p class="poetry">So I will set Judah on fire,p> <p class="poetry">and it will consume Jerusalem&#8217;s fortresses.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem;<n id="1" /> he built up these fortified cities throughout Judah:

The Edomites had again invaded and defeated Judah and carried off captives.

In those days the <sc>Lordsc> prompted King Rezin of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah to attack Judah.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Yet the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s great anger against Judah did not subside; he was still infuriated by all the things Manasseh had done.<n id="1" />

Just as the <sc>Lordsc> had announced, he rejected Judah because of all the sins which Manasseh had committed.<n id="1" />

&#8220;Say this to King Rehoboam son of Solomon of Judah and to all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin,

<p class="bodytext">So when Rehoboam<n id="1" /> humbled himself, the <sc>Lordsc> relented from his anger and did not annihilate him;<n id="2" /> Judah experienced some good things.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">He built fortified cities throughout Judah, for the land was at rest and there was no war during those years; the <sc>Lordsc> gave him peace.
