Then he brought me to the north gate, and he measured it; it had the same dimensions as the others –

He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said to him, “Sovereign Lord, you know.”

This is what the sovereign Lord says to these bones: Look, I am about to infuse breath ¹  into you and you will live.

Then he brought me to the inner court by the south gate. He measured the south gate; it had the same dimensions as the others.

Then he brought me to the inner court on the east side. He measured the gate; it had the same dimensions as the others.

Below these chambers was a passage on the east side as one enters from the outer court.

“Son of man, these men have erected their idols in their hearts and placed the obstacle leading to their iniquity ¹  right before their faces. Should I really allow them to seek ²  me?

Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, ¹  and Job, were in it, they would save only their own lives by their righteousness, declares the sovereign Lord.

Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and tell them: ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Look, they are saying, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope has perished; we are cut off.’

Then he led me toward the south. I saw ¹  a gate on the south. He measured its jambs and its porches; they had the same dimensions as the others.

There were windows all around it and its porches, like the windows of the others; ¹  87½ feet ²  long and 43¾ feet ³  wide.

He said to me, “These waters go out toward the eastern region and flow down into the Arabah; when they enter the Dead Sea, ¹  where the sea is stagnant, ²  the waters become fresh. ³ 

Even if these three men were in it, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign Lord, they could not save their own sons or daughters; they would save only their own lives, and the land would become desolate.

“Son of man, the ones living in these ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land, but we are many; surely the land has been given to us for a possession.’ ¹ 

He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, ¹  – prophesy, son of man – and say to the breath: ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these corpses so that they may live.’”
