<p class="bodytext">When King Hezekiah&#8217;s servants came to Isaiah,

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> told Isaiah,<n id="1" />

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="poetry">This is a message about Babylon that God revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz:<n id="2" />p>

Isaiah said to Hezekiah, &#8220;Listen to the word of the <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies:

<t /><p class="bodytext">Here is the message about Judah and Jerusalem<n id="1" /> that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz.<n id="2" />p>

<n id="1" /> Isaiah ordered, &#8220;Let them take a fig cake and apply it to the ulcerated sore and he will get well.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Here is the message about Judah and Jerusalem<n id="1" /> that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz during the time when Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah reigned over Judah.<n id="2" />p>

Later the <sc>Lordsc> explained, &#8220;In the same way that my servant Isaiah has walked around in undergarments and barefoot for the past three years, as an object lesson and omen pertaining to Egypt and Cush,

Hezekiah said to Isaiah, &#8220;The <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s word which you have announced is appropriate.&#8221;<n id="1" /> Then he thought,<n id="2" /> &#8220;For<n id="3" /> there will be peace and stability during my lifetime.&#8221;p>

So the <sc>Lordsc> told Isaiah, &#8220;Go out with your son Shear-jashub<n id="1" /> and meet Ahaz at the end of the conduit of the upper pool which is located on the road to the field where they wash and dry cloth.<n id="2" />

At that time the <sc>Lordsc> announced through<n id="1" /> Isaiah son of Amoz: &#8220;Go, remove the sackcloth from your waist and take your sandals off your feet.&#8221; He did as instructed and walked around in undergarments<n id="2" /> and barefoot.

Eliakim the palace supervisor, Shebna the scribe, and the leading priests,<n id="1" /> clothed in sackcloth, sent this message to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz:

Isaiah said to them, &#8220;Tell your master this: &#8216;This is what the <sc>Lordsc> says: &#8220;Don&#8217;t be afraid because of the things you have heard &#8211; these insults the king of Assyria&#8217;s servants have hurled against me.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Isaiah son of Amoz sent this message to Hezekiah: &#8220;This is what the <sc>Lordsc> God of Israel says: &#8216;Because you prayed to me concerning King Sennacherib of Assyria,<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness.<n id="1" /> The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him, &#8220;This is what the <sc>Lordsc> says, &#8216;Give instructions to your household, for you are about to die; you will not get well.&#8217;&#8221;

Isaiah the prophet visited King Hezekiah and asked him, &#8220;What did these men say? Where do they come from?&#8221; Hezekiah replied, &#8220;They come from the distant land of Babylon.&#8221;
