<p class="poetry">By the breath<n id="1" /> of God they perish,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">and by the blast<n id="3" /> of his anger they are consumed.p>

<p class="poetry">They live out<n id="1" /> their years in prosperityp> <p class="poetry">and go down<n id="2" /> to the grave<n id="3" /> in peace.p>

Instead, they tried to row<n id="1" /> back to land,<n id="2" /> but they were not able to do so<n id="3" /> because the storm kept growing worse and worse.<n id="4" />

But the land could<n id="1" /> not support them while they were living side by side.<n id="2" /> Because their possessions were so great, they were not able to live<n id="3" /> alongside one another.

When Joseph&#8217;s<n id="1" /> brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them,<n id="2" /> they hated Joseph<n id="3" /> and were not able to speak to him kindly.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Joseph said to his brothers, &#8220;I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?&#8221; His brothers could not answer him because they were dumbfounded before him.

When the fish<n id="1" /> that were in the Nile died, the Nile began<n id="2" /> to stink, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. There was blood<n id="3" /> everywhere in the land of Egypt!

All the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink,<n id="1" /> because they could not drink the water of the Nile.p>

When<n id="1" /> the magicians attempted<n id="2" /> to bring forth gnats by their secret arts, they could not. So there were gnats on people and on animals.

<p class="bodytext">The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.

Then they came to Marah,<n id="1" /> but they were not able to drink<n id="2" /> the waters of Marah, because<n id="3" /> they were bitter.<n id="4" /> (That is<n id="5" /> why its name was<n id="6" /> Marah.)p>

But the men<n id="1" /> of Manasseh were unable to conquer these cities; the Canaanites managed<n id="2" /> to remain in those areas.

He said to them,p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;Out of the one who eats came something to eat;p> <p class="poetry">out of the strong one came something sweet.&#8221;p> <p class="bodyblock">They could not solve the riddle for three days.p>
