For seven days they will make atonement for the altar and cleanse it, so they will consecrate it.<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;And these are the measurements of the altar:<n id="1" /> Its base<n id="2" /> is 1¾ feet<n id="3" /> high,<n id="4" /> and 1¾ feet<n id="5" /> wide, and its border nine inches<n id="6" /> on its edge. This is to be the height<n id="7" /> of the altar.

and the chamber which faces north is for the priests who keep charge of the altar. These are the descendants of Zadok, from the descendants of Levi, who may approach the <sc>Lordsc> to minister to him.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;On the second day, you will offer a male goat without blemish for a sin offering. They will purify the altar just as they purified it with the bull.

<p class="bodytext">He said to me, &#8220;Son of man, look up toward<n id="1" /> the north.&#8221; So I looked up toward the north, and I noticed to the north of the altar gate was this statue of jealousy at the entrance.p>

<p class="bodytext">Then he brought me to the inner court of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s house. Right there<n id="1" /> at the entrance to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple, between the porch and the altar,<n id="2" /> were about twenty-five<n id="3" /> men with their backs to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple,<n id="4" /> facing east &#8211; they were worshiping the sun<n id="5" /> toward the east!p>

The altar was of wood, 5¼ feet<n id="1" /> high, with its length 3½ feet;<n id="2" /> its corners, its length,<n id="3" /> and its walls were of wood. He said to me, &#8220;This is the table that is before the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Then he said to me: &#8220;Son of man, this is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says: These are the statutes of the altar: On the day it is built to offer up burnt offerings on it and to sprinkle blood on it,<n id="1" />

When the prescribed period is over,<n id="1" /> on the eighth day and thereafter the priests will offer up on the altar your burnt offerings and your peace offerings;<n id="2" /> I will accept you, declares the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>.&#8221;p>
