I thought this was a good idea,<n id="1" /> so I sent<n id="2" /> twelve men from among you, one from each tribe.

You must not eat it so that it may go well with you and your children after you; you will be doing what is right in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s sight.<n id="1" />

In this manner you will purge out the guilt of innocent blood from among you, for you must do what is right before<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc>.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">After you have produced children and grandchildren and have been in the land a long time,<n id="1" /> if you become corrupt and make an image of any kind<n id="2" /> and do other evil things before the <sc>Lordsc> your God that enrage him,<n id="3" />

Do whatever is proper<n id="1" /> and good before the <sc>Lordsc> so that it may go well with you and that you may enter and occupy the good land that he<n id="2" /> promised your ancestors,

Then I again fell down before the <sc>Lordsc> for forty days and nights; I ate and drank nothing because of all the sin you had committed, doing such evil before the <sc>Lordsc> as to enrage him.

Pay careful attention to all these things I am commanding you so that it may always go well with you and your children after you when you do what is good and right in the sight of the <sc>Lordsc> your God.p>

Thus you must obey the <sc>Lordsc> your God, keeping all his commandments that I am giving<n id="1" /> you today and doing what is right<n id="2" /> before him.<n id="3" />p>

Suppose a man or woman is discovered among you &#8211; in one of your villages<n id="1" /> that the <sc>Lordsc> your God is giving you &#8211; who sins before the Lord your God<n id="2" /> and breaks his covenant

For I know that after I die you will totally<n id="1" /> corrupt yourselves and turn away from the path I have commanded you to walk. Disaster will confront you in the days to come because you will act wickedly<n id="2" /> before the <sc>Lordsc>, inciting him to anger because of your actions.&#8221;<n id="3" />
