<t /><p class="bodytext">These were the ones chosen<n id="1" /> from the community, leaders<n id="2" /> of their ancestral tribes.<n id="3" /> They were the heads of the thousands<n id="4" /> of Israel.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;But if they blow with one trumpet, then the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Israel, must come to you.<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then the heads of the family groups<n id="1" /> of the Gileadites, the descendant of Machir<b>,b> the descendant of Manasseh, who were from the Josephite families, approached and spoke before Moses<n id="2" /> and the leaders who were the heads of the Israelite families.<n id="3" />

Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of their clans,<n id="1" /> made an offering. They were the leaders of the tribes; they were the ones who had been supervising<n id="2" /> the numbering.

So Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran at the command<n id="1" /> of the <sc>Lordsc>. All of them were leaders<n id="2" /> of the Israelites.p>

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">Moses told the leaders<n id="2" /> of the tribes concerning the Israelites, &#8220;This is what<n id="3" /> the <sc>Lordsc> has commanded:

<p class="bodytext">So Moses gave orders about them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua son of Nun, and to the heads of the families of the Israelite tribes.

<t /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> said to Moses, &#8220;Arrest all the leaders<n id="1" /> of the people, and hang them up<n id="2" /> before the <sc>Lordsc> in broad daylight,<n id="3" /> so that the fierce anger of the <sc>Lordsc> may be turned away from Israel.&#8221;
