She called to her husband, “Send me one of the servants and one of the donkeys, so I can go see the prophet quickly and then return.”

One day Elisha ¹  came for a visit; he went ²  into the upper room and rested. ³ 

One of them said, “Please come along with your servants.” He replied, “All right, I’ll come.”

The boy grew and one day he went out to see his father who was with the harvest workers. ¹ 

The Moabites ¹  said, “It’s blood! The kings are totally destroyed! ²  They have struck one another down! Now, Moab, seize the plunder!”

As one of them was felling a log, the ax head ¹  dropped into the water. He shouted, “Oh no, ²  my master! It was borrowed!”

So one of the priests whom they had deported from Samaria went back and settled in Bethel. ¹  He taught them how to worship ²  the Lord.

Whom have you taunted and hurled insults at? At whom have you shouted, ¹  and looked so arrogantly? ²  At the Holy One of Israel! ³ 

Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned for thirty-one years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother ²  was Jedidah, daughter of Adaiah, from Bozkath.

Go and close the door behind you and your sons. Pour the olive oil into all the containers; ¹  set aside each one when you have filled it.”

So they started toward ¹  the Syrian camp at dusk. When they reached the edge of the Syrian camp, there was no one there.

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he ruled for eleven years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother ²  was Hamutal, ³  the daughter of Jeremiah, from Libnah.

One of his advisers said, “No, my master, O king. The prophet Elisha who lives in Israel keeps telling the king of Israel the things you say in your bedroom.”

Jehu ordered the one who was in charge of the wardrobe, ¹  “Bring out robes for all the servants of Baal.” So he brought out robes for them.

He ordered them, “This is what you must do. One third of the unit that is on duty during the Sabbath will guard the royal palace.

Jehu sent invitations throughout Israel, and all the servants of Baal came; not one was absent. They arrived at the temple of Baal and filled it up from end to end. ¹ 

Now four men with a skin disease ¹  were sitting at the entrance of the city gate. They said to one another, “Why are we just sitting here waiting to die? ²
