“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls.

And the twelve gates are twelve pearls – each one of the gates is made from just one pearl! The ¹  main street ²  of the city is pure gold, like transparent glass.

Of coral and jasper no mention will be made; the price ¹  of wisdom is more than pearls. ² 

When he found a pearl of great value, he went out and sold everything he had and bought it.

saying, “Woe, woe, O great city – dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet clothing, ¹  and adorned with gold, ²  precious stones, and pearls –

(The gold of that land is pure; ¹  pearls ²  and lapis lazuli ³  are also there).

Do not give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and turn around and tear you to pieces. ¹ 

Likewise ¹  the women are to dress ²  in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. ³  Their adornment must not be ⁴  with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,

Now ¹  the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet clothing, ²  and adorned with gold, ³  precious stones, and pearls. She held ⁴  in her hand a golden cup filled with detestable things and unclean things from her sexual immorality. ⁵ 

The princess ¹  looks absolutely magnificent, ²  decked out in pearls and clothed in a brocade trimmed with gold. ³ 

cargo such as gold, silver, ¹  precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, ²  scarlet cloth, ³  all sorts of things made of citron wood, ⁴  all sorts of objects made of ivory, all sorts of things made of expensive wood, bronze, iron and marble,

The furnishings included linen and purple curtains hung by cords of the finest linen ¹  and purple wool on silver rings, alabaster columns, gold and silver couches ²  displayed on a floor made of valuable stones of alabaster, mother-of-pearl, and mineral stone.

For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared ¹  to her.

There is gold, and an abundance of rubies, but ¹  words of knowledge ²  are like ³  a precious jewel.

Who can find ²  a wife ³  of noble character? ⁴  For her value ⁵  is far more than rubies.
