<t /><p class="bodytext">Meanwhile Simon Peter was standing in the courtyard<n id="1" /> warming himself. They said to him, &#8220;You aren&#8217;t one of his disciples too, are you?&#8221;<n id="2" /> Peter<n id="3" /> denied it: &#8220;I am not!&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then they brought Jesus from Caiaphas to the Roman governor&#8217;s residence.<n id="1" /> (Now it was very early morning.)<n id="2" /> They<n id="3" /> did not go into the governor&#8217;s residence<n id="4" /> so they would not be ceremonially defiled, but could eat the Passover meal.

<p class="bodytext">From this point on, Pilate tried<n id="1" /> to release him. But the Jewish leaders<n id="2" /> shouted out,<n id="3" /> &#8220;If you release this man,<n id="4" /> you are no friend of Caesar!<n id="5" /> Everyone who claims to be a king<n id="6" /> opposes Caesar!&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Now when the soldiers crucified<n id="1" /> Jesus, they took his clothes and made four shares, one for each soldier,<n id="2" /> and the tunic<n id="3" /> remained. (Now the tunic<n id="4" /> was seamless, woven from top to bottom as a single piece.)<n id="5" />

<p class="bodytext">Now standing beside Jesus&#8217; cross were his mother, his mother&#8217;s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now very early on the first day of the week,<n id="1" /> while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene<n id="2" /> came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been moved away from the entrance.<n id="3" />

But these<n id="1" /> are recorded<n id="2" /> so that you may believe<n id="3" /> that Jesus is the Christ,<n id="4" /> the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.<n id="5" />p>

He told them, &#8220;Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.&#8221;<n id="1" /> So they threw the net,<n id="2" /> and were not able to pull it in because of the large number of fish.p>

Meanwhile the other disciples came with the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.<n id="1" />p>

I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> when you were young, you tied your clothes around you<n id="2" /> and went wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will tie you up<n id="3" /> and bring you where you do not want to go.&#8221;

There are many other things that Jesus did. If every one of them were written down,<n id="1" /> I suppose the whole world<n id="2" /> would not have room for the books that would be written.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;But I have a testimony greater than that from John. For the deeds<n id="1" /> that the Father has assigned me to complete &#8211; the deeds<n id="2" /> I am now doing &#8211; testify about me that the Father has sent me.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats from this bread he will live forever. The bread<n id="1" /> that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.&#8221;p>

Jesus answered,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you people<n id="2" /> do not know where I came from or where I am going.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">Then some of the Pharisees began to say,<n id="1" /> &#8220;This man is not from God, because he does not observe<n id="2" /> the Sabbath.&#8221;<n id="3" /> But others said, &#8220;How can a man who is a sinner perform<n id="4" /> such miraculous signs?&#8221; Thus there was a division<n id="5" /> among them.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Just before the Passover feast, Jesus knew that his time<n id="1" /> had come to depart<n id="2" /> from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now loved them to the very end.<n id="3" />

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me?<n id="1" /> The words that I say to you, I do not speak on my own initiative,<n id="2" /> but the Father residing in me performs<n id="3" /> his miraculous deeds.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Jesus replied, &#8220;My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my servants would be fighting to keep me from being<n id="1" /> handed over<n id="2" /> to the Jewish authorities.<n id="3" /> But as it is,<n id="4" /> my kingdom is not from here.&#8221;

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, &#8216;I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.&#8217;&#8221;

The other disciples told him, &#8220;We have seen the Lord!&#8221; But he replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Unless I see the wounds<n id="2" /> from the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds from the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it!&#8221;<n id="3" />p>
