Now when the commander<n id="1" /> of the temple guard<n id="2" /> and the chief priests heard this report,<n id="3" /> they were greatly puzzled concerning it,<n id="4" /> wondering what this could<n id="5" /> be.

Then he fell<n id="1" /> to his knees and cried out with a loud voice, &#8220;Lord, do not hold this sin against them!&#8221;<n id="2" /> When<n id="3" /> he had said this, he died.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Then the eunuch said<n id="1" /> to Philip, &#8220;Please tell me,<n id="2" /> who is the prophet saying this about &#8211; himself or someone else?&#8221;<n id="3" />

This went on for two years, so that all who lived in the province of Asia,<n id="1" /> both Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord.<n id="2" />p>

Therefore I urge you to take some food, for this is important<n id="1" /> for your survival.<n id="2" /> For not one of you will lose a hair from his head.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones,<n id="1" />

And do you think,<n id="1" /> whoever you are, when you judge<n id="2" /> those who practice such things and yet do them yourself,<n id="3" /> that you will escape God&#8217;s judgment?

We know that<n id="1" /> our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us,<n id="2" /> so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer me doing it but sin that lives in me.p> <p class="bodytext">

This means<n id="1" /> it is not the children of the flesh<n id="2" /> who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants.

But the righteousness that is by faith says: &#8220;<b><i>Do not say in your hearti>b>,<n id="1" /> &#8216;<i>Who will ascend into heaven?i>&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" /> (that is, to bring Christ down)

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was diligently seeking, but the elect obtained it. The<n id="1" /> rest were hardened,

<t /><p class="bodytext">And do this<n id="1" /> because we know<n id="2" /> the time, that it is already the hour for us to awake from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we became believers.

and thus the Gentiles glorify God for his mercy.<n id="1" /> As it is written, &#8220;<i><b>Because of this I will confess you among the Gentilesb>, <b>and I will sing praises to your nameb>i>.&#8221;<n id="2" />

Now I mean this, that<n id="1" /> each of you is saying, &#8220;I am with Paul,&#8221; or &#8220;I am with Apollos,&#8221; or &#8220;I am with Cephas,&#8221; or &#8220;I am with Christ.&#8221;

And you are proud!<n id="1" /> Shouldn&#8217;t you have been deeply sorrowful instead and removed the one who did this<n id="2" /> from among you?

For even though I am absent physically,<n id="1" /> I am present in spirit. And I have already judged the one who did this, just as though I were present.<n id="2" />

And I say this, brothers and sisters:<n id="1" /> The time is short. So then those who have wives should be as those who have none,

I am saying this for your benefit, not to place a limitation on you, but so that without distraction you may give notable and constant service to the Lord.p>
