<p class="bodytext">What follows is a record of what happened to Jerusalem and Judah because of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s anger when he drove them out of his sight.<n id="1" /> Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

<p class="lamhebrew">&#1490; (<i>Gimeli>)p> <p class="poetry">In fierce anger<n id="1" /> he destroyed<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">the whole army<n id="3" /> of Israel.p> <p class="poetry">He withdrew his right hand<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">as the enemy attacked.<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">He was like a raging fire in the land of Jacob;<n id="6" />p> <p class="poetry">it consumed everything around it.<n id="7" />p>

<p class="lamhebrew">&#1493; (<i>Vavi>)p> <p class="poetry">He destroyed his temple<n id="1" /> as if it were a vineyard;<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">he destroyed his appointed meeting place.p> <p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> has made those in Zion forgetp> <p class="poetry">both the festivals and the Sabbaths.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">In his fierce anger<n id="4" /> he has spurned<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">both king and priest.p>

<p class="lamhebrew">&#1513; (<i>Sin/Shini>)p> <p class="poetry">The young boys and old menp> <p class="poetry">lie dead on the ground in the streets.p> <p class="poetry">My young women<n id="1" /> and my young menp> <p class="poetry">have fallen by the sword.p> <p class="poetry">You killed them when you were angry;<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">you slaughtered them without mercy.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="lamhebrew">&#1514; (<i>Tavi>)p> <p class="poetry">As if it were a feast day, you call<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">enemies<n id="2" /> to terrify me<n id="3" /> on every side.<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">On the day of the Lord&#8217;s angerp> <p class="poetry">no one escaped or survived.p> <p class="poetry">My enemy has finished offp> <p class="poetry">those healthy infants whom I bore<n id="5" /> and raised.<n id="6" />p>

Then my anger will be fully vented; I will exhaust my rage on them, and I will be appeased.<n id="1" /> Then they will know that I, the <sc>Lordsc>, have spoken in my jealousy<n id="2" /> when I have fully vented my rage against them.p>

You will be<n id="1" /> an object of scorn and taunting,<n id="2" /> a prime example of destruction<n id="3" /> among the nations around you when I execute judgments against you in anger and raging fury.<n id="4" /> I, the <sc>Lord,sc> have spoken!

The end is now upon you, and I will release my anger against you; I will judge<n id="1" /> you according to your behavior,<n id="2" /> I will hold you accountable for<n id="3" /> all your abominable practices.

Soon now I will pour out my rage<n id="1" /> on you; I will fully vent my anger against you. I will judge you according to your behavior. I will hold you accountable for all your abominable practices.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;&#8216;Therefore this is what the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> says: In my rage I will make a violent wind break out. In my anger there will be a deluge of rain and hailstones in destructive fury.

I will exact my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel. They will carry out in Edom my anger and rage; they will experience<n id="1" /> my vengeance, declares the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>.&#8217;&#8221;p>

therefore, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>, I will deal with you according to your anger, and according to your envy, by which you acted spitefully against them. I will reveal myself to them when I judge you.

On that day, when Gog invades<n id="1" /> the land of Israel, declares the sovereign <sc>Lordsc>, my rage will mount up in my anger.

There will arise after him<n id="1" /> one<n id="2" /> who will send out an exactor<n id="3" /> of tribute to enhance the splendor of the kingdom, but after a few days he will be destroyed,<n id="4" /> though not in anger or battle.p>

<p class="poetry">I cannot carry out<n id="1" /> my fierce anger!p> <p class="poetry">I cannot totally destroy Ephraim!p> <p class="poetry">Because I am God, and not man &#8211; the Holy One among you &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">I will not come in wrath!p>

<p class="poetry">There is no other God like you!<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">You<n id="2" /> forgive sinp> <p class="poetry">and pardon<n id="3" /> the rebellionp> <p class="poetry">of those who remain among your people.<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">You do not remain angry forever,<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">but delight in showing loyal love.p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> is slow to anger<n id="1" /> but great in power;<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">the <sc>Lordsc> will certainly not<n id="3" /> allow the wicked<n id="4" /> to go unpunished.p><t /><p class="poetry">He marches out<n id="5" /> in the whirlwind and the raging storm;p> <p class="poetry">dark storm clouds billow like dust<n id="6" /> under his feet.<n id="7" />p>

<p class="poetry">No one can withstand<n id="1" /> his indignation!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">No one can resist<n id="3" /> his fierce anger!<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">His wrath is poured out like volcanic fire,p> <p class="poetry">boulders are broken up<n id="5" /> as he approaches.<n id="6" />p>

<p class="poetry">Is the <sc>Lordsc> mad at the rivers?p> <p class="poetry">Are you angry with the rivers?p> <p class="poetry">Are you enraged at the sea?<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">Is this why<n id="2" /> you climb into your horse-drawn chariots,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">your victorious chariots?<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">Seek the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s favor,<n id="1" /> all you humble people<n id="2" /> of the land who have obeyed his commands!<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">Strive to do what is right!<n id="4" /> Strive to be humble!<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">Maybe you will be protected<n id="6" /> on the day of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s angry judgment.p>
