<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;&#8216;On the Sabbath day, you must offer<n id="1" /> two unblemished lambs a year old, and two-tenths of an ephah<n id="2" /> of finely ground flour as a grain offering, mixed with olive oil, along with its drink offering.

<p class="bodytext">The Israelites took the women of Midian captives along with their little ones, and took all their herds, all their flocks, and all their goods as plunder.

the Gadites and the Reubenites came and addressed Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the leaders of the community. They said,

Why do you frustrate the intent<n id="1" /> of the Israelites to cross over into the land which the <sc>Lordsc> has given them?

<p class="bodytext">So the Gadites and the Reubenites replied to Moses, &#8220;Your servants will do as my lord commands.

Then the Gadites and the Reubenites answered, &#8220;Your servants will do what the <sc>Lordsc> has spoken.<n id="1" />

&#8220;Speak to the Israelites and tell them, &#8216;When you have crossed the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

&#8220;Instruct the Israelites to give<n id="1" /> the Levites towns to live in from the inheritance the Israelites<n id="2" /> will possess. You must also give the Levites grazing land around the towns.

&#8220;Speak to the Israelites and tell them, &#8216;When you cross over the Jordan River<n id="1" /> into the land of Canaan,

In this way the inheritance of the Israelites will not be transferred<n id="1" /> from tribe to tribe. But every one of the Israelites must retain the ancestral heritage.

No inheritance may pass from tribe to tribe. But every one of the tribes of the Israelites must retain its inheritance.&#8221;p>

They were married into the families of the Manassehites, the descendants of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father&#8217;s family.p>

<p class="bodytext">These are the commandments and the decisions that the <sc>Lordsc> commanded the Israelites through the authority<n id="1" /> of Moses, on the plains of Moab by the Jordan River<n id="2" /> opposite Jericho.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">And they were as follows:p> <p class="bodytext">The descendants of Reuben, the firstborn son of Israel: According to the records of their clans and families, all the males twenty years old or older who could serve in the army were listed by name individually.

<p class="bodytext">So the Israelites did according to all that the <sc>Lordsc> commanded Moses; that is the way<n id="1" /> they camped under their standards, and that is the way they traveled, each with his clan and family.p>
