After these things I looked, and there was ¹  a door standing open in heaven! ²  And the first voice I had heard speaking to me ³  like a trumpet ⁴  said: “Come up here so that ⁵  I can show you what must happen after these things.”

So ¹  he carried me away in the Spirit ²  to a wilderness, ³  and there ⁴  I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.

Listen! ¹  I am going to make those people from the synagogue ²  of Satan – who say they are Jews yet ³  are not, but are lying – Look, I will make ⁴  them come and bow down ⁵  at your feet and acknowledge ⁶  that I have loved you.

Then ¹  I saw something like a sea of glass ²  mixed with fire, and those who had conquered ³  the beast and his image and the number of his name. They were standing ⁴  by ⁵  the sea of glass, holding harps given to them by God. ⁶ 

Now ¹  the beast that I saw was like a leopard, but its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. The ²  dragon gave the beast ³  his power, his throne, and great authority to rule. ⁴ 

to eat ¹  your fill ²  of the flesh of kings, the flesh of generals, ³  the flesh of powerful people, the flesh of horses and those who ride them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, ⁴  and small and great!”

But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, ¹  idol worshipers, ²  and all those who lie, their place ³  will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. ⁴  That ⁵  is the second death.”

Then ¹  I saw standing in the middle of the throne ²  and of the four living creatures, and in the middle of the elders, a Lamb that appeared to have been killed. ³  He had ⁴  seven horns and seven eyes, which ⁵  are the seven ⁶  spirits of God ⁷  sent out into all the earth.

and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No ¹  one was able to learn the song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth.

and when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders threw themselves to the ground ¹  before the Lamb. Each ²  of them had a harp and golden bowls full of incense (which are the prayers of the saints). ³ 

Then ¹  they ²  told me: “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, ³  languages, and kings.”

Therefore, ¹  repent! If not, I will come against you quickly and make war against those people ²  with the sword of my mouth.

The first woe has passed, but ¹  two woes are still coming after these things!

He ¹  performed momentous signs, even making fire come down from heaven in front of people ² 

Furthermore, I will strike her followers ¹  with a deadly disease, ²  and then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts. I will repay ³  each one of you ⁴  what your deeds deserve. ⁵ 

(The ripe fruit ¹  you greatly desired ²  has gone from you, and all your luxury ³  and splendor ⁴  have gone from you – they will never ever be found again!) ⁵ 

Blessed is the one who reads the words of this ¹  prophecy aloud, ²  and blessed are ³  those who hear and obey ⁴  the things written in it, because the time is near! ⁵ 

Therefore, remember what you received and heard, ¹  and obey it, ²  and repent. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will never ³  know at what hour I will come against ⁴  you.

Listen! ¹  I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home ²  and share a meal with him, and he with me.

The ¹  ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but will receive ruling authority ²  as kings with the beast for one hour.
