that they will all be one, just as you, Father, are in me and I am in you. I pray<n id="1" /> that they will be in us, so that the world will believe that you sent me.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Simon Peter and another disciple followed them as they brought Jesus to Annas.<n id="1" /> (Now the other disciple<n id="2" /> was acquainted with the high priest, and he went with Jesus into the high priest&#8217;s courtyard.)<n id="3" />

But Simon Peter was left standing outside by the door. So the other disciple who was acquainted with the high priest came out and spoke to the slave girl who watched the door,<n id="1" /> and brought Peter inside.

One of the high priest&#8217;s slaves,<n id="1" /> a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off,<n id="2" /> said, &#8220;Did I not see you in the orchard<n id="3" /> with him?&#8221;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Pilate told them,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Take him yourselves and pass judgment on him<n id="2" /> according to your own law!&#8221;<n id="3" /> The Jewish leaders<n id="4" /> replied,<n id="5" /> &#8220;We cannot legally put anyone to death.&#8221;<n id="6" />

Pilate asked,<n id="1" /> &#8220;What is truth?&#8221;<n id="2" />p> <p class="bodytext">When he had said this he went back outside to the Jewish leaders<n id="3" /> and announced,<n id="4" /> &#8220;I find no basis for an accusation<n id="5" /> against him.

Jesus replied, &#8220;You would have no authority<n id="1" /> over me at all, unless it was given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you<n id="2" /> is guilty of greater sin.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

Thus many of the Jewish residents of Jerusalem<n id="1" /> read this notice,<n id="2" /> because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the notice was written in Aramaic,<n id="3" /> Latin, and Greek.

<p class="bodytext">Eight days later the disciples were again together in the house,<n id="1" /> and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked,<n id="2" /> Jesus came and stood among them and said, &#8220;Peace be with you!&#8221;

Then he said to Thomas, &#8220;Put<n id="1" /> your finger here, and examine<n id="2" /> my hands. Extend<n id="3" /> your hand and put it<n id="4" /> into my side. Do not continue in your unbelief, but believe.&#8221;<n id="5" />

Simon Peter, Thomas<n id="1" /> (called Didymus),<n id="2" /> Nathanael<n id="3" /> (who was from Cana<n id="4" /> in Galilee), the sons<n id="5" /> of Zebedee,<n id="6" /> and two other disciples<n id="7" /> of his were together.

Meanwhile the other disciples came with the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.<n id="1" />p>

I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> when you were young, you tied your clothes around you<n id="2" /> and went wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will tie you up<n id="3" /> and bring you where you do not want to go.&#8221;

He came as a witness<n id="1" /> to testify<n id="2" /> about the light, so that everyone<n id="3" /> might believe through him.

who is coming after me. I am not worthy<n id="1" /> to untie the strap<n id="2" /> of his sandal!&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">So then the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> responded,<n id="2" /> &#8220;What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?&#8221;<n id="3" />

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Destroy<n id="2" /> this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.&#8221;

No one<n id="1" /> has ascended<n id="2" /> into heaven except the one who descended from heaven &#8211; the Son of Man.<n id="3" />

Just as<n id="1" /> Moses <i>lifted up the serpenti><n id="2" /> <i>in the wildernessi>,<n id="3" /> so must the Son of Man be lifted up,<n id="4" />

He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.
