warn<n id="1" /> them of the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they must walk<n id="2" /> and the work they must do.<n id="3" />

You are to make for the hanging five posts of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, and their hooks will be<n id="1" /> gold, and you are to cast five bronze bases for them.<n id="2" />p>

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;Now this is what<n id="2" /> you are to do for them to consecrate them so that they may minister as my priests. Take a young<n id="3" /> bull and two rams without blemish;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">So Moses returned to the <sc>Lordsc> and said, &#8220;Alas, this people has committed a very serious sin,<n id="1" /> and they have made for themselves gods of gold.

He made for it four posts of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold, with gold hooks,<n id="1" /> and he cast for them four silver bases.p>

and anoint them just as you anointed their father, so that they may minister as my priests; their anointing will make them a priesthood that will continue throughout their generations.&#8221;

He must do with the rest of the bull just as he did with the bull of the sin offering; this is what he must do with it.<n id="1" /> So the priest will make atonement<n id="2" /> on their behalf and they will be forgiven.<n id="3" />

This is what the <sc>Lordsc> commanded to give to them from the Israelites on the day Moses<n id="1" /> anointed them<n id="2" /> &#8211; a perpetual allotted portion throughout their generations.<n id="3" />p>

Moses also brought forward Aaron&#8217;s sons, clothed them with tunics, wrapped sashes around them,<n id="1" /> and wrapped headbands on them<n id="2" /> just as the <sc>Lordsc> had commanded Moses.p>

So they must no longer offer<n id="1" /> their sacrifices to the goat demons,<n id="2" /> acting like prostitutes by going after them.<n id="3" /> This is to be a perpetual statute for them throughout their generations.<n id="4" />p>

The houses of villages, however,<n id="1" /> which have no wall surrounding them<n id="2" /> must be considered as the field<n id="3" /> of the land; they will have the right of redemption and must revert in the jubilee.

I am the <sc>Lordsc> your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from being their slaves,<n id="1" /> and I broke the bars of your yoke and caused you to walk upright.<n id="2" />p>

He must not defile himself even<n id="1" /> for his father or his mother or his brother or his sister if they die,<n id="2" /> because the separation<n id="3" /> for<n id="4" /> his God is on his head.

&#8220;Tell Aaron and his sons, &#8216;This is the way<n id="1" /> you are to bless<n id="2" /> the Israelites. Say<n id="3" /> to them:p>

And do this<n id="1" /> to them to purify them: Sprinkle water of purification<n id="2" /> on them; then have them shave<n id="3" /> all their body<n id="4" /> and wash<n id="5" /> their clothes, and so purify themselves.<n id="6" />

<p class="bodytext">So they traveled from the mountain of the <sc>Lordsc> three days&#8217; journey;<n id="1" /> and the ark of the covenant of the <sc>Lordsc> was traveling before them during the three days&#8217; journey, to find a resting place for them.

<p class="bodytext">Moses said, &#8220;The people around me<n id="1" /> are 600,000 on foot;<n id="2" /> but you say, &#8216;I will give them meat,<n id="3" /> that they may eat<n id="4" /> for a whole month.&#8217;

&#8216;Because the <sc>Lordsc> was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to them, he killed them in the wilderness.&#8217;

They and all that they had went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed over them. So they perished from among the community.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;&#8216;So this will be a perpetual ordinance for them: The one who sprinkles<n id="1" /> the water of purification must wash his clothes, and the one who touches the water of purification will be unclean until evening.<n id="2" />
