<p class="bodytext">So they made a treaty<n id="1" /> at Beer Sheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, returned<n id="2" /> to the land of the Philistines.<n id="3" />

&#8220;Hear me, my lord. The land is worth<n id="1" /> 400 pieces of silver,<n id="2" /> but what is that between me and you? So bury your dead.&#8221;p>

But while he was still alive, Abraham gave gifts to the sons of his concubines<n id="1" /> and sent them off to the east, away from his son Isaac.<n id="2" />p>

May he give you and your descendants the blessing he gave to Abraham<n id="1" /> so that you may possess the land<n id="2" /> God gave to Abraham, the land where you have been living as a temporary resident.&#8221;<n id="3" />

because they had too many possessions to be able to stay together and the land where they had settled<n id="1" /> was not able to support them because of their livestock.

Pharaoh should do<n id="1" /> this &#8211; he should appoint<n id="2" /> officials<n id="3" /> throughout the land to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt<n id="4" /> during the seven years of abundance.

Pharaoh<n id="1" /> had him ride in the chariot used by his second-in-command,<n id="2" /> and they cried out before him, &#8220;Kneel down!&#8221;<n id="3" /> So he placed him over all the land of Egypt.

Pharaoh also said to Joseph, &#8220;I am Pharaoh, but without your permission<n id="1" /> no one<n id="2" /> will move his hand or his foot<n id="3" /> in all the land of Egypt.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Now Joseph was 30 years old<n id="1" /> when he began serving<n id="2" /> Pharaoh king of Egypt. Joseph was commissioned by<n id="3" /> Pharaoh and was in charge of<n id="4" /> all the land of Egypt.

Then the seven years of famine began,<n id="1" /> just as Joseph had predicted. There was famine in all the other lands, but throughout the land of Egypt there was food.

So now, it is not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me an adviser<n id="1" /> to Pharaoh, lord over all his household, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

Get your father and your households and come to me! Then I will give you<n id="1" /> the best land in Egypt and you will eat<n id="2" /> the best<n id="3" /> of the land.&#8217;

They told him, &#8220;Joseph is still alive and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt!&#8221; Jacob was stunned,<n id="1" /> for he did not believe them.

<p class="bodytext">But there was no food in all the land because the famine was very severe; the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan wasted away<n id="1" /> because of the famine.

<p class="bodytext">Then Israel said to Joseph, &#8220;I am about to die, but God will be with you<n id="1" /> and will bring you back to the land of your fathers.

<p class="bodytext">So Joseph went up to bury his father; all Pharaoh&#8217;s officials went with him &#8211; the senior courtiers<n id="1" /> of his household, all the senior officials of the land of Egypt,

When the fish<n id="1" /> that were in the Nile died, the Nile began<n id="2" /> to stink, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. There was blood<n id="3" /> everywhere in the land of Egypt!

So Aaron extended his hand over the waters of Egypt, and frogs<n id="1" /> came up and covered the land of Egypt.p>

The <sc>Lordsc> did so; a<n id="1" /> thick<n id="2" /> swarm of flies came into<n id="3" /> Pharaoh&#8217;s house and into the houses<n id="4" /> of his servants, and throughout the whole land of Egypt the land was ruined<n id="5" /> because of the swarms of flies.p>

Hail fell<n id="1" /> and fire mingled<n id="2" /> with the hail; the hail was so severe<n id="3" /> that there had not been any like it<n id="4" /> in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.
