&#8220;Your father made us work too hard.<n id="1" /> Now if you lighten the demands he made and don&#8217;t make us work as hard, we will serve you.&#8221;<n id="2" />

Ahab also made an Asherah pole; he<n id="1" /> did more to anger the <sc>Lordsc> God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.p>

On these frames and joints were ornamental lions, bulls, and cherubs. Under the lions and bulls were decorative wreaths.<n id="1" />

Each stand had four bronze wheels with bronze axles and four supports. Under the basin the supports were fashioned on each side with wreaths.<n id="1" />

I will cut off every last male belonging to Jeroboam in Israel, including even the weak and incapacitated.<n id="3" /> I will burn up the dynasty of Jeroboam, just as one burns manure until it is completely consumed.<n id="4" />

The king refused to listen to the people, because the <sc>Lordsc> was instigating this turn of events<n id="1" /> so that he might bring to pass the prophetic announcement he had made<n id="2" /> through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam son of Nebat.p>

<p class="bodytext">Baasha son of Ahijah, from the tribe of Issachar, conspired against Nadab<n id="1" /> and assassinated him in Gibbethon, which was in Philistine territory. This happened while Nadab and all the Israelite army were besieging Gibbethon.

<p class="bodytext">Now the king of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah were sitting on their respective thrones,<n id="1" /> dressed in their robes, at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria.<n id="2" /> All the prophets were prophesying before them.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Solomon made an alliance by marriage with Pharaoh, king of Egypt; he married Pharaoh&#8217;s daughter. He brought her to the City of David<n id="1" /> until he could finish building his residence and the temple of the <sc>Lordsc> and the wall around Jerusalem.<n id="2" />
